Map size?

Post by GoodGuy »

If you select "new" in the MapMaker the max. size allowed would be 50000 (w) x 40000 (h). Is there a way to create bigger maps?

I'm asking because my next map-project is going to cover a huge greek isle (screenshot), and I'd love it to cover the whole isle. The 50 km x 40 km grid wouldn't cover the south-end.

The short answer is no. How much bigger did you want to go?

Just some additional 15 km to the south, in order to cover the south-end, since the width is fine.

Impressive stuff, once again.

Which island is it ?

Now, I would suggest you to either split in two maps and design two scenarios or to simply reduce the scale by 10%. The bigger the map, the more the CPU load I believe. You're going to end with something only playable on machines due in two years from now. [;)]

My HttR-map featured a grid of approx. 30 km x 40 km, and it worked ok on an AMD 64 3200+, so I guess this should work - I might change the width, though.
Yeah, looks like my project will come in different versions/flavours, means it will be a campaign containing 3 maps:
1) The main island,
2) the final slaughter at the south end [;)],
3) the last stand: a small isle that is located left (outside this screenie) from the top left corner of the main island.
