New stand-alone release for massively multiplayer WWII combat action game

Matrix Games and Playnet (www.playnet.com) are pleased to announce that Battleground Europe (www.battleground-europe.com) is now available to North America for the first time via the Matrix Games Online Store as a digital download, with boxed copies to follow next week. Take control of a soldier fighting in World War II in a persistent massive multiplayer world of first-person combat with infantry, tanks, planes and ships.

This full release in North America provides the latest version and goodies that were included in the European release last month. Enjoy a huge variety of extras, such as a 150-page game manual in electronic form, a combat equipment guide, wallpapers, game music, comics and more! Included is a key for 30 days of FREE play- a $19.99 value!

This latest release of this award-winning massively multiplayer online game features an improved graphical engine, new units and classes, major game play upgrades and much more! In Battleground Europe, you control an Axis or Allied soldier as you battle on land, sea, and air. Defeating enemy soldiers gains you experience, unlocking new weapons and vehicles. Also, as you gain ranks and fame you may be assigned to fulfill a command role, determining strategic targets and deployments. Become a battle-tested commander and you could become the head of the Axis or Allied forces leading thousands of fellow players into war.

The Battleground Europe world features over 600 cities and 29,000 buildings. The zoneless map covers 350,000 Km (Over 217,000 miles) of terrain with a whopping 4,000,000 trees. Battles can rage for days and the servers can support thousands of players online simultaneously.

Whether you want to be a British Sharpshooter or a German fighter-pilot, Battleground Europe has an assignment waiting for you. Every soldier can make a visible contribution to the final shape of the battle for Europe!

Battleground Europe is available via the Matrix Games Online Store digital download and game on demand. Pricing is US $19.99 for the immediately available download version and US $29.99 for the boxed version, which is expected to be available starting next week.

BE is a fun game with plenty of friendly players willing to help a recruit with the learning curve. I know because I'm still a recruit!

Support from CRS looks good as well. There was a pretty significant upgrade just yesterday.
