General Billy vs Bwheatley (Ended)

Post by general billy »

Gentlemen,

This will be my very first AAR on WPO, against Bwheatley.

I will be playing as the supreme commander of the Allies and he will playing as the Japs.

Scenario 007 1922.

Diplomacy has failed and Japan has officially declared war on the US.

All other nations will remain neutral unless provoked by the Japs. However they will be preparing themselves for Japanese aggression. And may declare war if the US fails to stop the Japanese expansion.

RE: Bill (Gen Billy) vs Bill (Bwheatley) to defeat

Post by general billy »

Japan and the United States are confirmed now to be in a state of war.

Date:- 06/03/22

Recent activities.

PI :-

Situation:- Japan has started its expansion of its empire. Information that they have landed in north and south phillipines are flowing into central command. Japanese BB's and CA's and hundreds of troop ships have been spotted. No current engagements have taken place. Although communication at Bataan Island have been lost. US troops on the PI have been ordered to hold key areas and await for reinforcements.

Action:-Pull back all non combatant ships. Combat vessals are ordered to provide escort for those ships and are not to engage the enemy. They will regroup into safe neutral waters and await orders.
Central Pacific :-

Situation:- Enemy ships have been bombarding Guam, Casualties have been reported. VE-7SF fighters stationed on the Guam have engaged enemy ships with very little affect. Ground forces have been told to prepare for a imminent japanese attack.
Pearl Habour defenses are starting to commence. Most are doubtful the japs will even make it there.

Action:- Hold and fortify. Non combatant ships to return to west coast. Mine operations are taking place.

West Coast:-

Situation:- US admirals are very unhappy of the current state of the US fleet. Most ships are being upgraded and will be out of service for at least a month.
Action :- Work 24 hours to fixed those damn ships and drink tea. This will be a long war.

Concerns :- Due to the state of the US fleet and the lack of knowledge of the enemy. And the feeling that PI cannot be saved. US troops have been ordered to slow down the japs as long as possible, but they are no current plans for them to be reinforced or evacuated.

Good luck General[:D] I am playing the Allies in my game, although in 1926. I would suggest, if your not already going to use your subs agressively as they can do some damage which can help in the long term, and they do provide good intel of enemy movements, which you will be lacking for sure with no surface ships in the area. I will be watching this game and hope you do well.[&o]

Situation at Pearl.

Post by general billy »

Defense of Pearl

Pearl harbour has a level 5 fort, total assult strength of 422. Is it enough to repluse a Jap invasion force? I doubt it very much. Plans are in motion to move any avalible units to Pearl Harbour to ensure it doesnt fall into Jap hands. How long will it take for the japs to be able to reach PH? They may need to take WAKE and Midway or will they ignore them and go straight for PH in a winner takes all battle.

Thanks. My subs are not playing a major role in the defense of PI at the moment, I know his ASW is high, and plus im training them up this will be a long war, plus Im letting my opponent get overconfident and perhaps soon wont even bother with ASW then im going for the kill in wolf packs. [:D]

Cool. I don't think the Japanese ASW will ever be very good. He can't hit the broad side of a barn in 1926 so iwould think it would be even worse in 1922. I was able to play hide and seek with my surface forces from the PI for a couple of weeks before they retired to pearl, but IIRC you don't have much there in 1922.

your destroyer force is in much better shape than mine in 26, i have almost no DD's with less than 10% sys damage[:-] so i have no escorts for my battle fleet, so they are cowering in port[:(]

I found in my 1922 AI game that the destroyers repaired incredibly fast.

In my 1926 PBEM game they are repairing much more slowly. Fortunately I did not sortie Battlefleet without escorts. Figured I would rotate them.

What is the US fleet doing?

The sudden appearance of Japanese fleet at PH has surprise most US commanders. Currently Pearl habour has no naval sea defenses since an early Japanese thrust was thought to be unbeliveable. However the Japs are here. With Gods luck the US fleet was not there. The Japenese Navy couldn't find a single target. A night surprise on the US fleet could have been very bad for the US fleet due to the inexpereince night crews of the US navy. The US fleet is mostly situated on the west coast doing shakedown criuses or being upgraded. The closes surface taskforce (Battle group A) is about 4 days away doing a shakedown cruise. This mainly comprises of around 8 BB's and 34 DD's

Orders were giving to break the blockade.
Every warship on the west coast damaged or not is to make full steam. ETA 8 days

More Japs Land

Day 3, and more japs land. Again jap ships have been hitting the 500 or so mines around PH.
But still they come. Jap bombardment is still covering the landings.
The Japs also decided to launch an all out assualt (Shock attack) suffering heavy casuaties.
A large number Japanese lay lifeless on the beaches.

And More

Day 4,

US forces on PH are getting really concerned about the amount of enemy forces landing. Some early reports indicate a possibility of 6 or 7 divisions. Japanese bombardments are getting less efficent. First US subs of the war fire in anger at Japanese transport ships with some hits. Palmyra Atoll has been taken by the enemy.
