DHRedge -> Question on HQ functionality (6/22/2013 10:56:20 PM)

Are the requirements mentioned in the rules about 'within range of HQ' about being in range of any HQ, or only the HQ a unit is assigned to.

There are many comments in the rules about advantages of being in range of a HQ, but they seem to all say 'a HQ' instead of 'a units assigned HQ'

Or more simply, do units have to be near there own HQ, or any HQ to gain benefits.

In the game, HQs are generic. They will confer benefits to any friendly unit within their radius regardless of command structure or assignment. Air HQs in range will help all air units with support, torpedoes, bonuses for bomber groups etc; Naval HQs will help all ships in range repair and unload; Land HQs.......etc, etc.

thanks, I thought that was the case, wanted to make sure on that.

I presume the choice of HQ used is closest.

Does this mean it's not worthy paying political points to assign a unit to a HQ? Other than to get out from under one that's restricted?

Does that mean that unit will take torpedos from hq even if not in thier chain of command ?

Yes. Save your PPs for something useful.

Yes. Any Air HQ with torpedoes in range will work.

I believe air HQs increase the coordination of air strikes of air units assigned to them. So it is worth expending PP in that case.
