John 3rd -> RE: Best looking Destroyer WW II (12/9/2012 3:27:01 AM)

Could I politely ask that if you have an interest in World War II ships - of all classes - that you take the trouble to visit the General Discussion Forum and the Australian Beauties thread to vote in the various categories. The Destroyer contest will be up and running soon.

koniu -> RE: Best looking Destroyer WW II (12/9/2012 2:56:49 PM)

Maybe not best looking but one of fastest and heavily-armed destroyers on seas before WWII
Grom-class (Thunder class) destroyer proud of Polish Navy "ORP Błyskawica" (ORP Lightning)

Grom class destroyers where designed to be able to sail with max speed of 39,6 knots
ORP Błyskawica is the oldest preserved destroyer in the world

Pictures made in 2012(not by me) present original 1944 look

Gridley380 -> RE: Best looking Destroyer WW II (12/10/2012 8:57:34 PM)

I must vote for the Gridley class, and on the speed front will note USS Maury hit 42.8 knots on trials. Fast enough for you?

casmithasl -> RE: Best looking Destroyer WW II (12/10/2012 9:07:20 PM)

USS Waldron DD699, Served on her 9/1965 thru 6/1968. I'm a little prejidist.

Barb -> RE: Best looking Destroyer WW II (12/11/2012 9:57:04 AM)

I had always thought of Fletcher class as premium "best overall design" among WWII destroyers:
- Good looking
- Versatile
- Numerous
- Spacious

Eh?

a) What the hell is the Down In Flames Forum?
b) If you mean the Australian Beauties thread in the General Discussion Forum - then er...... I've re-written what I'm going to say here about four times. I will refrain from venting my true feelings because I can't be arsed [8|]
