i'm playing DBB_B scen#26 vs. the IJ AI, 2-day turns, using beta 1120b (but i don't think this prob is specific to the beta). 1) Brit BB & BC SurfTF from Aden got on-map headed to Colombo, i sent a 2xDE ASWTF from Colombo at cruise-speed to merge w/ the SurfTF (35 hexes distant). 2) Brit TankerTF loaded at Trincomalee headed for Singers, i sent a 3xDD ASWTF from Singapore at cruise-speed to merge w/ the TankerTF (36 hexes distant). both ASW TFs merged w/ their target TFs at the beginning of the 2nd-day daytime naval movement phase, they had to run at full-speed to make the rendezvous (& some of those ASW escorts show minor damage from doing so). but i had set those ASW TFs to cruise, they could only make the merge if they'd run at full-speed, is it WAD that a TF set to Merge will over-ride the cruise-speed setting? i could understand it happening if the ASW TFs had been set to mission-speed. when i tasked the merging TFs to cruise, i expected that they wouldn't go balls-out to fulfill their mission.
