Very nice Jamm. I assume these are some of the factories? Did you have to create your own "shapes" to do this?

And will we need SOS units to play it properly?

Thanks for doing this.

Gerry

Hey Gerry,
Mostly scans with a ton of touchups and edits
I've tried a lot of different things so far, and am still experimenting as to what works best.

I haven't actually got to any scenario designs yet, but they will initially be designed with ATB units.

z1812 -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/1/2012 1:39:31 PM)

Looks Great,

ericbabe -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/1/2012 11:04:39 PM)

Those look great!

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/3/2012 3:39:55 AM)

More factories and buildings added
I'm showing this pic with hexgrid to give an idea of scale

Looks beautiful. Imagine a campaign system working with that map!

If I remember the map correctly those are some extra columns on the left-hand side? I would like those left on as a placeholder for units that need to be placed in scenarios. Currently the system for placing units often covers most of the map so really interferes with planning and navigating the map.

Gerry

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/3/2012 4:20:52 AM)

Yes, a campaign will be a must.
There's no placeholders on the map though.
The little room left over on the sides will just be the tabletop, but that graphic can be changed as well.

wodin -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/5/2012 10:48:34 PM)

Oh WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this alone now means I'm going to buy and sorely regret giving away my newsletter code!!

Is the map historical? Whats your reference? Looks similar to either red barricades or the ATS Stalingrad game.

Island of Fire by Jason Mark is a great book if your doing the Barrikady Factory attack by the Pioneers.

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/6/2012 3:43:32 AM)

Thanks for the encouraging words Wodin.
Yes the map is a conversion of Red Barricades and it's starting to come together nicely.
Here's the latest work.
All the major factories in place, the paved road grid and a lot of ground work

z1812 -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/6/2012 12:57:59 PM)

That is very impressive.

wodin -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/7/2012 8:31:22 AM)

Perfect..I see the Kommissar house and the oil tanks, I recognise the factories and the street just in front of the factories where alot of action took place..are trenches and cratered landscape in game? If so it needs some in the space between the River and the Factories. Also I notice the rubble overspill has gone..can you have rubble terrain? Think it's important in between the factories to hinder movement and the few Tanks the Germans had.

Looks great so far..

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/8/2012 1:42:15 AM)

Yes, there will be rubble. Here is a pic.
Stone and wood rubble will be implemented with effects.
The brown patches is where some wooden rubble will be placed.
You can also see the stone walls which also have terrain effects.
Entrenchments can be added as per scenario design.
I'm also going to add a lot of the shellholes but they will only be window dressing.

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/8/2012 2:13:49 AM)

And here's a pic overlaying the gap scenario to give an idea of scale.
I still have to clear up the hex overlay and make it sharper.

ericbabe -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/9/2012 5:34:02 PM)

Looks great! I'll try to get a little tool together this week that makes the .BYT files for the giant sized maps.

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/10/2012 2:11:49 AM)

That would be great Eric, thanks.

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/10/2012 8:52:33 PM)

Starting to get busy
That water graphic will be changed out

Chris Merchant -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/10/2012 9:26:06 PM)

Starting to look quite familiar!

wodin -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/10/2012 9:37:38 PM)

Looks amazing..damn why did I give my coupon away!! If I'd known you or someone was doing a Stalingrad map\campaign\scenario I'd have bought it.

Gerry -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/11/2012 1:52:01 AM)

I was wondering about urban fighting so I started this thread over on boardgamegeek:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/891628/multi-story-buildings

The designer, Uwe, dropped in so that is always neat to see.

Jamm, it's a very nice work.

Jamm -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/14/2012 1:40:56 AM)

Ok, the map is pretty much done and the underlying terrain is working.
Have a look

cheers

JMass -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/14/2012 1:24:30 PM)

Great work, thanks! [:)]

wodin -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/14/2012 3:38:18 PM)

A work of art. This alone will bring in new customers I'm sure. Does the game have assault pioneers? As you couldn't really recreate it without them.

z1812 -> RE: Stalingrad sneak peeks (12/14/2012 6:23:31 PM)

A wonderful map.

The Germans have Assault Pioneers.
