I'm sorry to say I missed the Veteran's Parade here (Tulsa, Okalahoma has one of the largest veteran's parade in the U.S.). I have to agree with Will Rodgers:" If your going to honor the veteran's you should let him or her sit on the corner an have everyone else walk by". So, last night I went to a restaurant that was open from 16:00 to 21:00 (4pm to 9pm) free to veterans and their dependants. The food was good but since to my illness in July I can't eat much. I went mostly to mingle with the other veterans. There were old veterans (WWII, Korea, and Vietnam) and new veterans (Afghanistan and Iraq) from all branches of the services. And we did the same thing service men and women do when they get together we told war stories and talked about food. It was interesting that the dependants wanted to get an Idea of what it was like being deployed overseas and bring shot at. This is a situation hard to describe but we all tried our best. I was glad to hear the Afghanistan and Iraq veterans are getting better medical treatment than when we got back from Vietnam. I just hope as many of our service men and women overseas get back as safely as possible. [sm=00000924.gif]
