Ketza -> A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/2/2012 10:12:46 PM)

A laid back AAR against and unknown Soviet opponent that has a different take on things then what I have been running into lately.

Turn one air losses.

South start - I am going all in down here but a pesky Soviet cav division ruins the pocket. One Panzer division is off by a hex!

For the record I would love a slight Soviet movement phase down here before or during the surprise turn to make things more interesting then the usual Lvow pocket.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/2/2012 10:24:54 PM)

Pocket reductions turn 2:

North - 81,000
Center -174,000
Swamp - 82,000
South - 34,000 (extended Lvov pocket held but the big one did not which is odd)

Almost 700k with no Lvov reduction is a good haul and shows the power of channeling the routs of Soviet units by staggered attacks and penetrations along the front instead or starting on one end and moving north to south.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/2/2012 10:30:10 PM)

Begin of turn 3 pockets in the south.

My opponent ran like the wind in the south. He left a small screen force behind which was pocketed. Recon shows everything behind the river except a bulge around Kiev.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/2/2012 10:33:39 PM)

End of turn 3 center -

My center push is rather weak with a Panzer corps heading south and one heading north. He evacuated Mogilev and 2nd Panzer pushed to the city outskirts.

One Panzer corps was transferred from 3PZ to 2PZ. 9th army and 4th army are coming up quickly from the west because of a complete reduction of pockets. Most of 3rd Panzer is heading north towards Velikie Luki to support southern flank of AGN.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/2/2012 10:37:15 PM)

End of turn 3 North

Big push to Leningrad. I want it to fall as quick as possible. My last few games Leningrad has been a slugfest and I havent had a prayer of capturing it as I did not support 4th PZ in an attempt to go all out for Moscow but that did not work either [:D]

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/2/2012 10:43:58 PM)

In the south I have not seen someone run like this in over a year. I do not know if it is because of my extra Panzer divisions or some grand plan but my Panzers do not have anything to kill and punch at the air. I do overrun Kirovograd and actually kill some AP and HI for a change however!

He is running in the south but has set up a strong line in the Leningrad area so I am pretty sure he is not a complete runner yet.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/2/2012 10:48:05 PM)

Losses after 3 turns. 843k with most of Lvov still needing to be reduced. Not bad but the future of high Soviet casualties does not look good if he is going to be running. Hopefully the loss of manpower centers will be enough to offset this.

End of 4 center. @nd panzer punches into thin air on the bridge but he has a long line along the length of the river. Hmmmm

2nd Panzer claws out a bridgehead. This should unhinge the river line.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/8/2012 2:21:12 PM)

Maybe this bridgehead will start to unhinge his line here as well. Next turn should be interesting.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/8/2012 2:23:25 PM)

Turn 5 Finland sideshow - trying to Pin a few divisions as well as keep the bottle neck from forming.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/9/2012 12:41:31 AM)

Turn 6 AGS - Slowly making bridgehead bigger. Unable to do HQ buildups which is slowing things down quite a bit. He has not bolted yet so hopefully a pocket will develop.

A large infantry attack where the 7-14 Soviet armor division is was a hold.

Finland - The bottleneck ruptures - several divisions are snared in the process.

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/9/2012 2:53:19 AM)

AGN - moving forward. He seems to be giving up the easy stuff and has a wall of units closer to the city.

Turn 6 Odessa- This player is certainly playing it different. He has run but only to set up a deeper defensive area. Also he has gone all in at Odessa which leaves me a head scratcher. On the one hand I am glad to see all that Soviet hardware trapped in the rear on the other hand I have to reduce it with more then the Rumanians. I bombed the port in an attempt to not allow Soviet units to rout away.

I count over 200k+ Soviets in this area that will hopefully be bagged. He also left the AP and HI behind.

IdahoNYer -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/9/2012 3:08:07 AM)

Glad to see you're a few turns ahead of my PBEM - I can use the pointers!!

Really scratching my head on the Odessa defense.....I can understand manning the fortifications, but 200k????

Ketza -> RE: A Casual AAR Ketza (Axis) vrs Unknown (10/9/2012 3:12:33 AM)

He has also kept the Soviet air force out of the picture completely.

Idaho I am sure there is more you can teach me then I teach you :)
