Taking in my seat at the front row. Should really be a good one for judging the state of the game today!

I kinda have an idea how things will play out the first yr, so I am going with the 2 year game plan that I have been using after 1.06 came out.

Basicly push and keep morale high in 41

Manpower/AP crunch in 42.

Hang-on for the rest of war.

Marquo -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/11/2012 4:42:49 AM)

Unless Mike T knocks you out in the first year...like he did to me back in the days of muling...good luck.

Farfarer -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/14/2012 3:41:16 AM)

Sometimes I am leery of these "games between Titans" as there can be a perception that prestige is at stake, therefore play can become like defensive formulaic world cup soccer, rather than risk-taking hint hint ;)

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/15/2012 3:22:51 AM)

Getting more milk from a rock, beleive it or not I figured out a way to make the chains reach longer. All withen rule set of course.

Not sure yet how this will play out in a H vs H game, but testing results are good. This game will be the beta test for its use. I am not that smart and generally it takes me 2 or 3 games to perfect new things.

Looks like I can set up 2 army gruops for chain version 1.06.15.

[&o] The Milk Man

Time to roll the dice. When I tested a game with Flaviusx I made the mistake of playing not to lose, instead of playing to win. So balls to the wall roll the flying panzers EAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just going to look at MT as SHC and not as MT.

Play to Crush or go home Care Bear.

Not going to be able to post anything until at least turn 6. I just finished turn 2.

I am over the Pskov with 3 divisions, center boring and south going east full speed with a chain to start next turn. Down here is best area to test out new tools as far as logistics system goes.

Turn 3 is done. Things are going nicely, I post turn 2 when I get turn 6 then keep up dating every turn.

Turn 3
Manpower Pts over run during 1942 =
Russian Units Destroyed during 1942 =
Russian losses this turn: 193,000 Total dead: 567,000
Russian OOB:3,810,,000
A net gain of: - 87,000men
Russian units currently in a pocket: 0
GHC OOB: 3,394,000
GHC net OOB change: +35,000

I have started 2 chains one in north and one in south. The south is going much better then expected. Only 14 hexes to D-Town , 20 to Karkov and 29 to Stalino on turn 3. PZ Corps in HQB range. SHC seems very thin in south, guessing he moved allot to Leningrad area using the old TDV strategy.

AGN: LVII starts the Northern chain with a HQB. XXXXI is set-up for next turns HQB. Model took over I Corp and all 4 Divisions are 90 morale. I made some head way. Only 330 miles from cutting off Leningrad. So I only need to advance 3 hexes a turn to cut it off by turn 14, less to cut rail lines.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/25/2012 2:59:34 PM)

AGC: 4 arm and 2 in Mogilev. Infantry will be a few more turns before they start to do anything other then march east. Both PZ Corp were withen HQB range, but not worth the effort in center until turn 9 or 10. No flank protection until infantry get to front.

Only need to advance 3 hexes a turn to get to Moscow.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/25/2012 3:01:42 PM)

AGS: III PZ Corp does a HQB and XXXXVIII PZ Corp sets up for next turns HQB. I will have another Corp do the 3rd leg not sure which one at this point. I will see if I can get the extra turn out of the chain. I did a bunch of air drops so the front line MPs should be high.

Again only need to advance 3 hexes a turn to get to Rostov, basicly no resistance down here SHC must have refit off.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/27/2012 10:55:44 AM)

Turn 4
Manpower Pts over run during 1942 =
Russian Units Destroyed during 1942 =
Russian losses this turn: 280,000 Total dead: 857,000
Russian OOB:4,045,000
A net gain of: 125,000men
Russian units currently in a pocket: 0
GHC OOB: 3,442,000
GHC net OOB change: +48,000

AGN: Pushes across river, LVII Corps fails to crack the 2nd line. 2 epically horrible die rolls, MT gets lucky. XXXXI Corp HQB. 2 other HQ are set-up for build ups next turn. I Corp drives back a stack of units in a swamp hex. Most of the infantry in 18th and 16th armies should be able to make attacks next turn. I should be able to push east and pocket units. Despite bad luck I am 1 turn ahead of my time line. Planes are set-up at the front so that full air drops can be made over the next 3 to 4 turns. Railhead is close so supplies will not be an issue. I have desided to save troops in Finland. I will not make any attacks seeing there is no reason as SHC will simply give me the land and there is zero way to advance because of the bottle neck.

Only real fighting happening is in north the rest of the front is kinda boring.

[image]local://upfiles/20387/09C3FD3565034243A48EA97B46E97828.jpg[/image]

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/27/2012 10:57:29 AM)

AGC: I could have done the normal turn 4 HQBs here but no real point as infantry are still a few turns from front and SHC is giving ground. No real need to push hard when its given to you. No real time frame in center until turn 10.

Boring area of operations for a while.

[image]local://upfiles/20387/6558A9296F15459FAF582AD4B530310B.jpg[/image]

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/27/2012 11:13:41 AM)

AGS: Despite 5 epically horrible die rolls, GHC crosses the river in 4 spots with 5 divisions. This turn over all really sucked and only because of bad die rolls. 1 cv units holding vs 20+ CV units with 200% air support, good old GG effect. Very lucky turn for MT. Despite bad die rolls I am 3 turns a head of my time line in south. I could have pushed to D-Town easily, but crossing rivers in force is more important.

As SHC knows that now with new patchs GHC is very limited in offensive operations because of a lack of supplies.

Basicly SHC can go very very strong in north with very little in south as railing out industry is a cake walk.

SHC simply has to do a 3 or 4 deep checker board in south, which means you can rail out 12 to 20 units the first 2 turns to Leningrad area. C&C means zip for SHC until 42.

I see no reason why Leningrad and Moscow can't be held now, with a few lucky die rolls and about the right mix of troops in north and center. The plug in the north of Finland is a huge game changer for SHC.

South is a back water, but is a must for GHC as its worth more then Leningrad and Moscow together. SHC tactics make taking the south much easyer, but because of the logistics nerf GHC can only go so far.

This old strategy, but with a huge bump from logistics nerf and the plug can be over come.

But its alrdy to late for this game at this point to counter this old strategy given new life.

GHC must be thinking into 42 now as its become easy to hold Moscow and a 50% chance of holding Leningrad, if your playing a good SHC player.

Games much more of a challage now all things being equal.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/29/2012 11:51:44 AM)

So far so good. I am playing the best SHC or GHC player so my goals are based on that. I don't expect to win in 41, 42 or 43.

Morale is my only goal during 41 and through the blizzard. I don't expect to get any industry. I don't expect to take Leningrad/Moscow or Rostov. Sure I like to take them, but thats not a must and in most cases as can be seen in most AAR's started after 1.06.13 just not possible during 41 any more. Leningrad is about the only thing that is possible. But MT being the best of the best knows this and is defending Leningrad tooth and nail. So even that is not a given vs the best. He knows all the weakeness of the GHC in the north/center and south and is playing his game to exploit each one. I would say so far he is playing perfect with zero errors and I expect none. The only weakness to his game plan is it very easy to build morale and take ground, so I have to exploit that as much as possible. This game so far is playing out very much like M60's and Hugh's.

AGN: 2 turns ahead of time line. Over the next 5 turns AGN will start grinding. I expect the heavist fighting in this area. No major offensives until around turn 10 because infantry are not at front and hvy SHC defences.

AGC: 2 turns ahead of time line. Over the next 5 turns AGC will simply keep advancing 2 to 3 hexes a turn, no major offensives until around turn 10 because of supply issues.

AGS: 2 turns ahead of time line. Over the next 5 turns AGS will simply keep advancing 3 to 5 hexes a turn, no major offensives until around turn 10 because of supply issues.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/31/2012 10:37:12 PM)

As of this turn of the 104 infantry divisions all but 7 at at 95% toe.

AGN: Plowing ahead. Crossed 2 of the 3 rivers. Infantry should finally be able to do a bunch of attacks next turn as panzers have been doing all the fighting.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/31/2012 10:38:11 PM)

AGC: Crossed river and infantry are at land bridge, that was easy. He must have allot up north and or digging in around Moscow as resistance is very weak so far in center and south.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (8/31/2012 10:40:43 PM)

AGS: Pushes across rivers. 10 infantry divisions cross and XXXXVI PZ Corp does a HQB.

So far the south is like taking candy from a baby.

What's his industry situation in Kharkov / Stalino? You must be poised to knock out a lot of industry there...

Industry is 100% window dressing now. Sure I am close, but a long ways from railheads. With muling nerfed there is 100% no way to get close to anything vs a SHC with and IQ above 12.

50 pocketed arm pts tops and it take atleast 75 to make a difference.

The only thing that matters now is German infantry morale. 4 million men to 6 million men (SHC) does not really matter.

TDV had less then 4 million, heheh

1941 is almost meaningless now as long as German infantry survives blizzard. What was 1941 is now 1942 after 1.06.13.

Pelton -> RE: Pelton vs MT (9/1/2012 9:59:47 AM)

As German you can't effect SHC output enough to matter any more.

All things being some what equal:

1.Your not going to pocket enough (total recall before November 1941).
2.Your not going KIA enough over 3.5 million russians 1941.
3.Your not going to destory enough industry 75 amr pts ever.
4.Your probably not going to take Leningrad and Moscow and Rostov in 1941 to get a manpower crunch going.

The only things GHC can control to win in long run:

1. Morale
2. AP crunch after November 1941, atleast 2000 pts of AP destoyed=200 divisions or combo's = 2000 AP pts.
3. Manpower crunch in 1942
