IdahoNYer -> Soivet Corps HQs not disbanding? (7/19/2012 1:26:09 AM)

OK, its now turn 4 in our PBEM (1.06.13 beta) and I still have 88 Soviet Corps HQs running around - they don't seem to be disbanding. Has something changed?

From the manual:

quote:

18.5.2. Automatic Disbanding of Soviet Corps HQ Units

Soviet Corps HQ units will automatically disband as follows:
Soviet Mechanized Corps HQs will be phased out (disbanded) by August 1941.
Soviet Rifle and Cavalry Corps HQs will be phased out (disbanded) by November 1941.

v1.05.61 February 8, 2012
Soviet Cavalry Corps HQ will now disband immediately in January 1942. Although the manual said they would disband by November 1941, until this version they were disbanding in April 1942.

Not arguing with that, but I don't ever remember any Corps HQs (aside from maybe Airborne) lingering around to August 1941...

That's what I remember, so I posted the question. Guess we'll see what happens.....

Are they further than 3 hexes from the enemy? Are they on or adjacent to safe rail lines? I have noticed that if those two factors are not in place, the HQ will survive for quite a while without disbanding.

Well, that was strange....on turn 5 some 63 corps HQs disbanded.

This is just plain weird....

anybody else see this in there games?

It's normal for the Soviets - they change over from army - corps - division structure to army - division sturcture.

Yes, its "hardcoded" to reflect historic command structures.

Kind regards,

Idaho, it has always worked like this.

Flavius - understand that the Corps HQs disband, but I'm used to a number of them disbanding each turn. Not zero from turns 1-4 and then 60+ on turn 5!

I believe that turn 5 is the first turn that they start to disband, but I could be wrong. When they do disband, they disband pretty quick and en masse like that.

I would just chalk it up to strange random dice rolling, very improbable, but not impossible. Watch for it again in future games.

In my current game against Pelton, I think I had 60 or so disband on Turn 4...

Offworlder -> RE: Soivet Corps HQs not disbanding? (7/23/2012 9:17:53 AM)

Well in my current game, I had several corps HQs survive for quite some time (about 3). They were those present in the pockets on the turn 4 or so, and so were routed out eventually. I believe they disbanded in January or so but I think its more a bit of an abherration possibly caused by the fact that when the time for disbandment came, they were actually cut off from the rest of the army.
