Gents.

Once you have played a bit, post your ideas/requests for mods here. Hopefully, someone will volunteer to develop each item requested.

Make the map a bit more featured rather than the plain green. Kind of like the map mod for WtP

amatteucci -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 5:58:47 PM)

Edit the scenarios modifying the AFV numbers to something close the actual OOBs.

The first volume of the Stalingrad Trilogy by Glantz has detailed OOBs listing the exact numbers of tanks, by type, for every Soviet and German unit involved. There are handy tables both for Second Khar'kov and Fall Blau (strenght returns as of 11 May 1942 and 28 June 1942).

Neither PzC Kharkov nor WitE managed to offer a (tank OOB-wise) accurate Second Khar'kov scenario. It could be interesting to have one in DCCB, since the game scale seems just right for that kind of operations.

Any chance you could send me some scanned pages in a PM? I will only use them for modding purposes and they won't be published.

AZ Gung Ho -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 7:25:24 PM)

I agree the map needs work, I'd love to see one similar to some of the WITE mods.

Here's a hasty mod developed using the vanilla WtP fields. Comments? Perhaps too 'busy'?

redmarkus4 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 7:33:45 PM)

If you want that effect, download the image file here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29184871/Normal.zip

Now extract the Zip and put the file into your game folder as follows: C:\Matrix Games\Decisive Campaigns Case Blue\graphics\DC2\Plain\Normal

Say 'Yes' if asked to overwrite the file.

Backup your 'Normal' plain graphics file first, in case you decide to revert.

redmarkus4 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 7:39:00 PM)

Note - I am still figuring out how to mod the zoom in and zoom out map hexes...

LiquidSky -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 7:46:11 PM)

What I did was start with the DC2BIG files, then shrink them by half and put them in dc2 for the first zoom, and shrink again by half and stick in dc2small for the second zoom

Each folder is the files for each zoom level. Unlike WiTE, he models every individual hex. I put numbers in the middle of each strip for the plains, and noticed that the game uses a (random?) one of the 13 hexes on the strip when it paints a hex.

redmarkus4 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 7:50:17 PM)

Thanks - will look at that now...

Keunert -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 7:58:54 PM)

looks good Markus. maybe you could make the fields a little less green and add some yellow, make them look like the Steppe and not central europe greenish like?

same applies to the SS units. These are modeled as Mot Inf Divisons. By 1943 they were PzGren Divisions equipped with Tiger Companies.

Will play around with that...

redmarkus4 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/17/2012 10:03:24 PM)

Vic - I want to change the font for city names but I can't locate where to do this...

sandman2575 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 12:52:12 AM)

I personally loved Kiddytoto's map scheme for DC WtP -- any chance he's out there thinking about doing it again for Case Blue?

Thanks - yes I did and I can read the images. Thanks for going to the effort!

I will take a look at the editor and see what can be done.

Keunert -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 7:46:47 AM)

a little more red and a little more yellow still and i am happy :)

redmarkus4 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 9:07:07 AM)

OK, this is the 9th Pz Div modded according to Glantz's table. Please sanity check.

However, I am having a problem - please see the Tech Forum.

Vic -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 9:11:17 AM)

@RedMarkus,

I am sorry you cannot change the font for the hex labels. Its a long story, but you cannot.

Best,
Vic

redmarkus4 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 9:24:52 AM)

No problem Vic - thanks for the quick reply.

It looks too bright on the screen when I add more yellow!

I am not the best graphics modder - normally I do place names and OOBs etc.

Let's see if Kiddytoto or some other map modder brings their skills to this title. At least we know it can be modded quite easily!

GFelz -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 11:23:41 AM)

I suppose we will want the usual flag mod to for more historical flavour.

Hmm. I ought to be able to use the ones from WtP I suppose although something for the USSR would be good.

WilliePete -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 1:28:08 PM)

I think the stock map needs yellow in it as well, if only to break up the all green background. Is it possible to add large patches of yellow here an there to represent wheat fields, ect.?

redmarkus4 -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 1:47:29 PM)

The argument made by others is that the terrain was mainly Steppe grassland and there were not many areas of farming...

WilliePete -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 8:36:41 PM)

I agree with you, but I still think that the map could use a little something to make it livelier. If you have the time, please indulge me and make a quick mod simply to see what it would look like. It might look great!

The Russian steppe is full of different types of wild grass and I think little patches of dark-yellow the size of small towns here an there, filling up some of the empty areas, would wake the map up a bit. I'm trying to do it on my end, but I'm having a hard time of it...

wodin -> RE: Mod Survey (7/18/2012 10:10:50 PM)

I'm in contact with Kenny, Kiddytoto I will ask him if you want me too. He is also an admin on my FB site linked below,
