Roger Neilson 3 -> Japanese film about Yamamoto (5/11/2012 1:44:39 PM)

I watched this (subtitled) on my flight back from San Francisco yesterday. I found it a very interesting view of his role in the lead up to, and execution of the war. Certainly it gives an interesting perspective on the Army/Navy enmity and on a Japanese 'history'.

Worth a watch if you can get hold of it.

Roger

So what is it called then?

I assume: Rengō kantai shirei chōkan Yamamoto Isoroku. Also Otoko-tachi no Yamato made in 2006 is fairly good. However the movie is about battleship yamato is more focused on the average crews life during operation Ten-Go then major battles. Also another two interesting movies are For Those We Love - ORE WA KIMI its about kamikadze pilots and Merdeka 17805 about japanese soldiers who stayed in indonesia after ww2 and fought against dutch.

Admiral Yamamoto
Director: Izuru Narushima

This acclaimed Japanese film tells the story of the life of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, who orchestrated the Pearl Harbor attack and was commander-in-chief in the early years of the war.
