genehaynes -> Combat (2/12/2012 12:46:51 PM)

Just bought the game, and am really enjoying it. I have a couple of questions concerning combat.

1. What are "hit points" and where do I find them? The manual states: " The attacker puts his attack score versus the hit point score of the defending individual". The subunit information shows attack / defensive values for hard and soft targets. there's also a "defensive" value (usually = 100). I don't see anything referring to "hit points". Also when I look at the Combat details it looks like the attack value of the subunit is "rolled against" the aforementioned defense of 100 (plus modifications to both). Since I've scored hits with an attack value 5 or less against a defensive value of 165, I don't think the defensive value is actually what I'm rolling against. I've searched the net for information regarding combat calculations with no success.
2. Why does the "overall strength" number (the number displayed on the unit counter when you zoom in) change when you change from NATO counters to Icons. I had the number change from 6 to 47 depending on which type of counter I was displaying.

Thanks for your help.

1. Hitpoints can be seen when you look at the detailed combat report. They are mostly for internal calculations and once you get used to playing the game you'll probably never need to worry about them again.

2. I have never seen this happen. Can you post a screen shot?
