The distance from the land bridge is short. 1 HQ build-up.
The facts on the ground are that your going to be lucky vs most players to get 3 million KIA, vs 8421 I got 3.5 million and still did not take Moscow.
Moscow in most games is taken because of a russian players OPPs, not because of skill on the germans players part "all things being equal"
As the German player you can only take what your given. In other words in most cases German players exploit mistakes.
To take Moscow in 41 is mostly because of poor game play on the Russian players part, not anything amazing on the german players part.
Flaviusx held it vs James and would have had a kick ass blizzard O in there game because of james lines. Its held in many of my games but I can still "win" in 1942 and have more then once.
Even if you take it, holding it is foolish and not worth the risk, because it can easly be retaken in 42 with little cost.
The main damage from taking it is the population hit of which effects are limited to 43.
Building morale in the center should be the main goal of the german effert in 41, the main goal is not taking Moscow in the center. The main goals are Leningrad and the south. If the Russian player has a brainfart in the center and hands Moscow to you take it for sure, but its only takeable because of russain mistakes.
The War is won or lost in 1942 now.
