JudgeDredd -> I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 7:55:59 PM)

...this game was nowhere near my radar. I had heard about it and read some posts about it and just thought it was just another Grand Strategy game that would fail to impress with the AI

And...whilst that may still be true...I still bought the damn thing...and why? Because of this...

I LOVE that look!

freeboy -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 9:26:54 PM)

well.. I am playing on easy as axis, have a lengthy history of  beating ai oponents to a blody pulp and am strugling to crush the french in 40, and Russia invaded Romania! oops

Agent S -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 9:58:29 PM)

Thanks Judge,
I'm glad to hear the feedback for my mod.
Some tweaks to come.
Improved clouds
Better beach color.

The colors for this map skin is based on a strategy and tactics magazine game I played in the 70's. Operation Cobra.
Any other suggestions welcome.

Agent S, did you create a counter mix wherein the division counters are slightly smaller than the corps? I saw it somewhere, can't recall where. That would be nice to have.

nim8or -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 10:26:33 PM)

This is very nice indeed... (grumbling as he fumbles for his wallet)

Texican -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 10:32:01 PM)

Is this map hexes or squares? Seen screenshots of both.

Squares???

Are you thinking SC2?

Agent S -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 11:17:26 PM)

@gw.
Can't recall, it's been quite a few months since the sop/ tow unit map tweaks.
I'll look through some old folders...
If you can post up some examples here, I can create a set to spec.

Really like seeing my mods in your aar. Validates the hours spent tweaking .pngs

macroeconomics -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 11:17:53 PM)

Reminds me of the map graphics for World in Flames. Especially the swamp and forest hexes.

jjdenver -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 11:32:04 PM)

What is the name of that map mod? I need that one - terrain is so clear and easy to read!

sveint -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/9/2011 11:33:22 PM)

Game looks and plays great. Just don't expect good AI.

I need some more time with the rules but then it's time for PBEM.

I disagree. In my experience, the AI is bloody fantastic, especially the Soviet.

No, no. No work on my account. I thoroughly enjoy the counters and maps you have made already. Thanks!

Look at the Libyan screenshot, last one, on the Matrix site, and it looks square-like. Maybe it's from an older development version or something.

Flaviusx -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 12:28:09 AM)

Fun game, and much improved over Time of Wrath. I'm sticking to this for a while and taking a vacation from WitE.

But the silly devs still kept the preposterous leader ratings from Wrath in Fury. I'm going to have to change those. (No guys, Budenny and Voroshilov are not better than Zhukov and Vatutin. Reverse those leadership ratings, and you'd be closer to the truth.)

sveint -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 1:25:03 AM)

About the AI: Didn't read manual, didn't play the previous game. It was still a walkover as Germany to conquer France in fall/winter 39. Maybe the Soviet AI is better, I don't know.

Ready for a PBEM game Flaviusx?

Flaviusx -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 1:34:02 AM)

Maybe.

Is there someway to do a 3 way for this? One side for WAllies, another for Axis, another for Sovs. PBEM I'm sure could handle it, but what about the server? Any one of these is a lot of stuff to handle, I'd hate to be running the Sovs and Allies at the same time.

That sort of happens in these games. Just like Montgomery or MacArthur get bad ratings in some of these strategic games, but mostly due to their egos and not from properly assessing their skills.

And then folks like Zhukov, attrition generals, get max ratings when mostly they had max replacements. It's all subjective, but if they allow it to be changed in an editor, that works out, I suppose.

sveint -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 1:41:07 AM)

Well that's disappointing, I just tested and there can only be 2 players. And here I imagined 3+ players...

sveint -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 1:42:17 AM)

Have to say I really hope they fix this, the game is very much designed for 3 players. The Allies and Soviets can even declare war on each other...

And there is no PBEM. Server or hotseat only.

Flaviusx -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 1:46:30 AM)

Meh. We can still do PBEM the ghetto way, if we can find the appropriate save files. Just email those round robin in a 3 player game. (Or, heck, more than 3 people if you want.) Pity the server doesn't support it.

sveint -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 1:59:20 AM)

OK I just tried a hotseat game with all countries as human. Unfortunately not only does the game jump between alliances, but all the turn decisions for ALL countries are grouped at the end, which makes sending the turn back and forth impossible. Looks like server is the only practical way (unless you need a vacation, we could do a real hotseat game [;)]).

Flaviusx -> RE: I must have lost my marbles.... (12/10/2011 2:04:58 AM)

Yeah, it worked this way in Wrath too, but Uxbridge figured out a way to deal with this back in the day. I forgot what he did though.

Let me sleep on the 2 player idea. I might be persuaded.
