Larsenex -> Good morning. Couple of questions.. (11/1/2011 1:41:04 PM)

Well I am glad I did not pre-order that 'other' 4x game, enough said so I have a couple of questions.

Has Return of Shakturi been updated since July of this year (2011)?

Can someone direct me to where I can find a list of some of the new features in the new expansion 'Legends'? I was wondering what I can expect in the expansion is all.

Thanks much!

To the first question, no.

For the second, there is a whole posting called Distant Worlds - Legends Screenshots, Features... right at the top of the list there.  Did you not see that?

The only fault I have found with the expac so far is that I don't have it [:@]

Ok here is a very silly question but is this Expac released yet and if not when is the 'approximate' release date? I daresay after the fiasco of um that other recently release 4x product I am hesitant to preorder but knowing that DW is independent I am ok with doing so. I would rather have Eric come here and say. 'Hey its not ready yet and it will be 3 more months' than have it rushed out the door......

WoodMan -> RE: Good morning. Couple of questions.. (11/1/2011 11:15:53 PM)

Release date not confirmed.  But, I think November sometime has been mentioned as the probable date.

Don't rush games! Ever! But especially not in this genre. I think part of the reason DW is such a hit is that it's been a long time coming and getting to where it is. From a project in some dude's spare time, to a widely respected 4x benchmark. Not too shabby. [:'(]

Lets up not forget the vanilla DW release was a trainwreck that was unplayable due to access crashes for some time.Patches and the expansion stabilized the game.

That was also very dependent on your system configuration. Systems with more memory could play without running into issues. We had a lot of testing before release and the stability issues really showed up after release when we saw what happened on a wider variety of systems. A lot of the pre-release issues were unknown to us in our beta testing and on our configurations, they were very much a function of not having a large enough pool of test systems.

There was also a serious bug with the economy that was introduced late and not noticed until after release which was probably the most severe of all the issues I wish we'd caught in testing. There was definitely a lot more than we expected to address after release and it kept us very busy, but I think lots of people were playing and enjoying the game from the start as well.

Regards,

- Erik
