SeanD -> Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/28/2011 4:59:26 PM)

Two new Grand Campaigns are joining the fray on the heels of near unanimous acclaim!

Slitherine, Matrix Games, and The Lordz Games Studio are thrilled to announce that two new extra content packs are headed to their famed next generation strategy game, Panzer Corps. Selling as a download version only for $4.99 each, the extra content Grand Campaign ’39 and Grand Campaign ’40 brings loads of new scenarios and the ability to carry your armies from campaign to campaign. Ultimately, several other extra content packs will combine together to create a full Grand Campaign from 1939 to 1945 which will have around 70 scenarios!

Are you interested in getting an early look at the new content? Sign up to join our beta team and test out the new campaigns before anyone else! Sign up at the Slitherine website.

The Campaign of 1939
September 1st, 1939.

Germany launches its military invasion of Poland, igniting World War 2. Take command of the Blitzkrieg’s spearhead as you battle your way to the heart of the Polish nation, the Capitol of Warsaw, and beyond. This DLC features 14 all new scenarios, improved artificial intelligence scripting, new campaign features, unique objectives such as protecting vital units, destroying enemy supply trains, and securing vital bridges, and the capacity to save your core force file for use in future campaigns!

The Grand Campaign’s are a series of expansions for Panzer Corps and require Panzer Corps. Each campaign can be started with the core force from the previous Grand Campaign, so you can continue Grand Campaign ’40 with your core force that completed Grand Campaign ’39. Alternatively players can start with a preset core force and play each campaign on its own, or jump in to the Grand Campaign at any year. This expansion starts your core from the very beginning of the war, allowing you maximum flexibility to choose and shape the forces that you will take through the next 6 years. The full Grand Campaign from 1939-1945 will have around 70 scenarios!

Scenario List:
Poznan, Danzig Corridor South, Danzig Corridor North, Lodz, Piatek, Wyszogrod, Kampinoska, Forest, Modlin, Warsaw South, Warsaw North, Spoils of War, Oslo, Lillehammer, Narvik

The Campaign of 1940
May 10th, 1940.

The Maginot Line, shield of France and the battleship on land, was supposed to be impenetrable, but the Germans have a secret and daring plan aimed to topple their old enemy! Import your experienced troops from the first campaign, or start with a pre-generated brand new core and lead your forces to victory. This DLC features 14 all new scenarios, recreating historical battles such as the epic of Eben-Emael and the tank battles of Arras and Stonne, improved artificial intelligence scripting, new campaign features, unique objectives such as capturing a French General and forcing the Dunkirk pocket to surrender, and the capacity to save your core force for use in future campaigns!

Hanal -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 12:14:32 AM)

Do the campaigns branch at key points, based on type of victory in a given scenario, or will we play out the entire scenario list?

Dragoon. -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 10:01:26 AM)

Wow, just came here to browse the mod forum didn't expect to find such great news.
I hope you're soon ready to start the beta test, because you guys got me a ticker and I need my opiate.

IainMcNeil -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 10:05:27 AM)

The campaigns have branches but return to a joint point at the end of each year to avoid a exponential growth in possible scenarios which woudl make the job impossible to complete.

narly bird -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 10:09:22 AM)

Sounds great and am looking forward to it. Now if only i had more free time to play...

@J P Falcon

Instead using my words I want draw your attention to this post @Slitherine forums.

[quote="dshaw62197"]Looking over the screenshots of the two DLC campaigns brought a couple of questions to mind. First, is the unit scale and time scale consistent across the scenarios, or do they vary like the current base campaigns? Also, is the campaign structure rigid (i.e., every scenario has to be played in order) or are there variable outcomes based on the level of success?

Unit scale and time scales are near universally consistent.  However the scale is somewhat zoomed in compared to what we have right now in Panzer Corps.  For example the 2nd scenario of DLC 1940 is Eben-Emael and the second one is the German advance up the Albert Canal.  Historically speaking, these two scenarios only took two or three days to complete, and so the amount of time that passes in game is a match to that.  In other words, Turns per Day is quite heavily invoked (how else can we fit 14 scenarios, averaging about 16 turns per scenario, into a timeline of May 10th to June 25th? :) )

As for the campaign structure, it is only rigid in the fact that it follows a very historical path.  While the current grand campaign is rather freewheeling, with Sealion, Moscow, and USA all possible to be subdued, the most likely plan for these DLCs is to follow history.  That does not mean we won't ever see something like... DLC USA 1946, just not right away.  Within each DLC there are alternate paths and choices the player can make, as well as possible bonus fictional scenarios that can be unlocked with a string of decisive victories.

This image should explain what I'm talking about, just keep in mind the briefing is subject to change in the final version.

Grand Admiral Thrawn -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 4:57:01 PM)

So each campaign will cost 5$ and the total will be what...35$ for 39'-45' additional campaigns, yes?

Lord Zimoa -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 6:07:18 PM)

Each campaign pack holds between 10-15 new additional scenario`s at 4,99$ USD per pack, covering the 6 years of the war between 1939-1945.

So that is 29,94$ - 34,93 USD for about 80+ new scenario`s covering `39 -`45. If you want all 6-7 of course.

Dragoon. -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 6:21:56 PM)

May I ask in which interval are you planing to release each pack and can we expect to see a bundle?
Like pay once get them all as each becomes available.

Lord Zimoa -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 6:27:01 PM)

I quote Iain McNeil Director from Slitherine here:

quote:

We are trying to separate out features from content. The DLC packs are purely new maps and campaigns. Features will be rolled out in patches. As someone above suggested our plan is to keep a single version of Panzer Corps that anyone who updates to the latest version will have. Then all you have to do is choose which campaign to play. You may not have all of the campaigns if you have not purchased all the DLC but you would have the same game version with all the features.

We also plan a different level of additional content called an expansion. This again will keep the core code features the same but add a lot more units, terrain types etc to cover a different theatre. It will have a higher price tag to cover the higher development costs and more extensive content updates. More details on this soon.

For example, for the later DLC packs we have found we need some more Soviet units to cover the eastern front in more detail. These units will be included in a patch that everyone will get for free. However these units will not appear for most users initially as they have no maps that make use of them. The later DLC packs will make use of the new units. Map designers will also be able to make use of the new units and anyone will be able to play them. Having said that we may need to limit the use of new units to an expansion if we add an entirely new theatre such as Pacific/Africa etc, but units slotting in to an existing theatre you own will be free.

So in summary what we plan is:
DLC - maps and campaigns using the core content that is already available. The Grand campaigns are in this categroy.
Expansions - new content taking the game to new theatres. We have not announced any expansions yet but will do soon!

That's probably just confused the issue.

So expect a lot the next 18-24 months. We are going to continuously build out and improve the core game, until it is the biggest and most fun WW2 experience out there. ;-)

dsawan -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 7:00:42 PM)

Nice! I really look forward to the what-if's. dunkirk is good because of the what if there if the Germans captured the 300,000 plus men instead of them excaping to britain. i imagine Sealion follows afterwards unless britain surrenders due to Dunkirk total defeat. In any event, i will buy the paks.

OK, and what about the size of the maps? Will they be bigger than the core maps? Similar to those in the original Panzer General or perhaps even bigger? You know...bigger is better [;)]

zoul310 -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/29/2011 11:47:45 PM)

This is a terrific news ! Putting the whole game to an upper level.
Thx

Hanal -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/30/2011 12:21:01 AM)

So I presume that once we complete the Poland and France Grand Campaigns, we just need to sit tight and await the next part of the series, where we can then take our existing experienced core units onward...we will not need to replay the first two again, correct?

HansHafen -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (9/30/2011 7:04:09 AM)

Awesome guys. Love the new ideas and work. Look forward to it and appreciate the dedication.

OOPS, should not have posted here.

I am in the middle of DLC, The Campaign of 1940 and the first thing I noticed was an improved AI. I have seen my spearheads counter attacked and, gasp, stopped. The new objectives are cool, such as taking certain fortifications. Rather than scurrying around the map, attacking tanks with infantry or infantry with tanks, I must really plan ahead. I don't have any real in depth analysis right now, I am in the middle of bagging the Dunkirk sitting ducks.

Sounds great. :D
But as a reminder, the DLC are still in closed BETA, so please do not share any more information about them on open forums just yet.
This is the forum for any and all DLC related comments, for the time being.

Of course I want them all!!!

Thanks for this great news, can't wait to play a grand campaign from '39 to '45.
I do have one question though, I assume the experience (core) units will gain is gonna be substantial lower than in the current 1939 campaign?

IainMcNeil -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (10/7/2011 11:31:54 AM)

Yes it is being scaled in a different way.

zach1 -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (10/9/2011 10:24:59 AM)

When will be possible to download?

IainMcNeil -> RE: Extra Content for Panzer Corps Announced! (10/9/2011 4:39:18 PM)

The plan is 27/10/11
