That was a serious setback. A couple of hits would have made the life of the Allies a lot easier. But I couldn't expect too much from the Dauntless pilots as they were unexperienced land based units in contrast tot the experienced crews on the carriers. Even more astonishing was the sinking of the BB Mississippi by a couple of Japanese destroyers. Aarrrggg...

GreyJoy -> RE: Here we go!!! (11/26/2011 1:19:57 PM)

Slow old BBs are easy prey for the long lance torp attacks. Especially in low visibility conditions it's better to always screen slow BBs with a Destroyer division TF...

i feel your pain....

Thanks!
But perhaps suprisingly it doesn't cost a lot of work. I just have paint open next to WITPAE and once a nice shot comes by I make a printscreen. After the turn it is quickly copy pasting and browsing for some photos on the internet. I copy everything to a powerpoint file where I also do the typing. In powerpoint you can save one single page as a JPEG. This is what I post on the forum. And after a while I will convert the whole powerpoint file which still contains every single page into PDF. An than it is truely an E-book which you can scroll through. I will also post these on the forum when the book is a little bigger. Cheers!

Is the pic taken from Il2 Sturmovick1946? ...love that game!!!!

1000lb on the Mogami? Penetrating hit?...she could be in a very bad shape if so...

I don't know where the picture is from. I just downloaded it from the internet.
I used to play CFS2 and never touched the IL2.
I didn't see black smoke so I still expect her to show up later tonight at T.

Even if it was not penatrating there is a good chance a 1K bomb caused enough damage to form an escort TF ... [;)] If that annimation is correct it at least caused severe / major damage of some sort ...[My experience is only severe damage hits trigger the flames from the hit as opposed to the flames and black smoke from severe fires ...] Just a thought ...

dennishe -> RE: Here we go!!! (11/26/2011 9:58:37 PM)

The dauntless bombers hit it wit another bomb. Just to be sure [;)]

The Ozzies are kicking the Japanese out in Western Australia. At sea it is still a different story

dennishe -> RE: Here we go!!! (11/27/2011 2:15:07 AM)

A post on the Southwest Pacific Theatre. Note that the invasion of Luganville took place a couple of weeks ago before the battle of Tabiteuea. I separate news per theather in order to make it a coherent story.

Thanks!

The battle of Tabiteuea has finished. After a long battle the Japanese carriers and battleships pulled back. The BB Mississippi and BB New Mexico were sunk. On Japanese side the CL Sentai, CA Mogami and a destroyer (possibly 3) were sunk. A pretty good score and a morale victory for the Allies.

Some old stuff on the battles around NZL. It is quiet for now except for a raider attack on Suva. I saw them coming and rerouted several convoys. Forgot about one tough [:@]

dennishe -> First version of the E-book is ready (12/4/2011 1:14:54 PM)

I converted the first 100 pages of the E-book into a pdf file, which you can download by clicking on the link below. It contains the same pages as you have seen before, but now it is in one file and in the right order. I find this much easier to read. It really is a E-book now. I hope you guys like this. I for sure do.

Note that not al chapters are finished yet

Also, the file is huge and takes some time to load.

Cheers

Dennis
