Terminus -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/26/2009 6:51:22 PM)

And then I caught one that was THIIIIS big!!!

LST Express -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/26/2009 7:08:55 PM)

320 mm Japanese spigot mortar, type 98 .

Terminus -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/26/2009 7:25:50 PM)

After it's been de-fanged.

AW1Steve -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/26/2009 8:33:02 PM)

You'll notice the missing wrench. "Honest Sarge, it was like this when I found it! I didn't break it!".

Proof once again that you might have "sailor-proof", and "soldier-proof", but nothing,nothing is ever "Marine-proof!"[:D]

Terminus -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/26/2009 8:35:02 PM)

That Marine looks scared, somehow...

AW1Steve -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/26/2009 8:44:09 PM)

Of course! And what is a Marine most scared of ? Making his sargent angry! [:D]

Knavey -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/26/2009 11:22:01 PM)

Amazing that a wrench is still a wrench just about anytime, anywhere.

NightFlyer -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/27/2009 3:31:33 AM)

320 mm Type 98 mortar captured during Battle of Iwo Jima, kind of small what?

String -> RE: Name This AE...391 (7/27/2009 10:27:06 AM)

I've heard claims that the marines didn't fear the 320mm mortar that much because the round was so slow that they could see it coming and easily take cover.

Brady, as it seems that this run of 'Name this...' is at an end, I'm posting this in gratitude to you for providing us with so many interesting, and sometimes intriguing images from both sides of the hill.  I've got a lot of enjoyment out of these threads - thanks a lot! [&o]
