AW1Steve -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 2:31:41 AM)

Obviously FAA corsair pilots, but thats all I can come up with.

RevRick -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 2:36:18 AM)

RNZAF Corsairs, perhaps?

AW1Steve -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 2:52:34 AM)

I don't think so , it looks like a shipboard setting.

Vampir -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 10:34:47 AM)

Hi Brady! Hi all! [:)]

I agree with AW1Steve. I think it is FAA F4U Corsairs on the deck british carrier Illustrious class. [;)]

More info of FAA and BPF:

FAA Archive

More of Illustrious class:

FAA Corsair pilots in the European Theatre of Operations

(3 coloured fin stripes and a jacket far too warm for the PTO)

Maybe taken after a Tirpitz strike.

One of them was Biggles!

Vampir -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 1:03:11 PM)

This flying man?? James Bigglesworth, better known "Biggles"? [:D] Wow!!! [:D]

AW1Steve -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 1:15:16 PM)

I'm here, have no fear [:D]

Capt. James Bigglesworth, or Biggles to his friends, was originally a member of the RFC before the creation of the RAF. Between the wars he was also a detective. My course in training had to do a presentation on something related to the RAF, we wanted to choose Biggles but were told no [:(]

As for the quiz, I'm going to go for a Corsair MkII or MkIV, probably a II.
EDIT 2: I'm also going to say not HMS Illustrious, maybe HMS Victorious & 1836 Sqn? I can't be arsed to post a dozen links about this stuff either [;)]

rockmedic109 -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 7:46:39 PM)

Now I am going to have to add a pilot named Bigglesworth when AE finally comes out.

He was present in the Far East, operating out of Dum Dum. Along with his comrades he was sent to find and disable the Japanese secret weapon that was bringing down RAF aircraft in India. The mystery had the top brass worried, was it a Death Ray? Or something else? Biggles had to find out, and quickly! [:D]

Brady -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 9:03:05 PM)

As a rule I generaly avoid giving hints:

1) At least one of them is an Ace (or better)

2) And a Maple Leaf was something he saw on ocashion.

Andy Mac -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 11:55:22 PM)

Lt Gray VC

Andy Mac -> RE: Name This AE...110 (10/19/2008 11:57:20 PM)
