I got my copy of CIV IV 2 days ago.
Still I will play Crown of Glory today.
That shows in my opinion how excellent this game is.

No the Napoleon-era have never been a favourite time-period for me.

Its the game-system I like. There is a heavy need for new good turn-based
systems otherwise there will only be RTS-games some years from now.

Yes but its quite different from CIV III.
I have made several CIV III scenarios (including WW2-Global, The Great War
and Barbarossa) available at Civfanatics but I think my time as scenario-creator
soon will be over.
The reason is that CIV IV will not work well with large scenarios as those
mentioned above.
Also you have to be very good in writing code to mod CIV IV.
I am an old-timer and do not have time to learn that.

I just downloaded v1.2.14 beta. I still can not access v1.1.0 patch. ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/crownofgl ... -v110h.zip
I get "cannot find server". Does v1.2.14 include v1.1.0 patch? If not, then how do I get v1.1.0? Do I need to change browsers setting., like changing "use passive FTP" setting that I currently have. Will games saved under v1.0.0 run correctly under v1.2.14, or should I start fresh? Lastly, COG is an awesome game!

Hi declark,

Save games from previous versions aren't compatible with 1.2.x.

(1.1 was backwards compatible via a built-in converter, but there were too many save file changes made in 1.2.)
