Hi All -

Completed a walk through of scenarios using Google Earth. Send me an email if you want the file (especially if you want to host it and link to it).

It seems that you're missing some graphics! I'll have to check it out.

BTW, all the scenario descriptions were written by someone on the Panther staff.

Rooster,

do you need to be running the same version (I believe you have the upgraded to the plus version?). Maybe that would explain the missing graphics...just a thought.

Could be an issue with GE + I'll have to check.

Looks like you're missing the round little custom battle icons I made. Which for some reason may not get saved in the kmz file or something.

Is it because on Dave's screenie, the image had not fully loaded (see how it says streaming...81% ).

I wish this thing was able to show contour lines. Now that would be use for scenario designing. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to code...would it?

Maybe World Wind...

You know what would be cool is if there were a command in COTA that would export COTA unit locations to Google Earth using their KML files. What would be even cooler is if you were able to build 3D maps in the game itself.

BTW, I wonder who will be the first war game company to build a game engine on top of google earth?

The above is a GE based game that plays like Risk. I haven't played, but it looks interesting.

That does look interesting. I'll have to check that out. I was thinking that a WWII Heart of Iron type game would be great using google earth. Even though it would not have perior maps the topographical features would still be accurate. Also, you can add you own map images to google earth so that even a HWTTR or COTA map could be loaded into goggle earth and it can then be viewed as semi transparent so that you can overlay a period map over the modern sateliite images. I really wonder to what point the topographical data that Google Earth use is precise (relief).

BTW, Rooster, I can use your icons only if I use google earth plus. The normal GE doesn't show them.

That's odd. I put it together using GE (not the + version). I need to update it anyway, so maybe I'll revert to standard icons.

Do the arrows and the key show up?
