SSG's Complete Carriers at War

Post by KG Erwin »

I bought this years ago--the 1996 version of Complete Carriers at War. Out of curiousity, I loaded it onto my Win XP machine, ran it in Win95 compatibility mode, and lo & behold--it works!

Now, this is a DOS game, and I can't get any sound out of the game (which was minimal to begin with), but this is still an amazingly-detailed game (for its time) and I can still get some enjoyment out of it.

It's been superceded by Grigsby's game and SSG no longer supports it, but it IS playable.

If you ran it through a DOS emulator, you might get sound as well...

I'd like to see a remake of the game with todays graphics and sound. The game engine doesn't need a lot of work and the AI was pretty good back in the day.

I'll keep hopin'.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Try dosbox. Its free and it runs anything.

Carriers at War III !

As of my last communication with Ian Trout (SSG), I was informed that
CaW3 is indeed a serious topic. Ideas are on their desks and no doubt
will be worked upon. No dates have been set in stone. However, they
((SSG)), are indeed going to do a CaW III. Keep your eyes and ears
open, lads and lassies!

Hey, that's good news...[:D]

In the live chat with SSG about a month ago I asked the same question....CAW3?

All they said was "it's something we'd love to do"...

It didn't sound too hopeful then, but maybe SSG had a change of heart because it was the most asked question that night!

Say that again. I love witp but I cant play it because of the time limits. It takes several days just to setup the first turn as japanese. One can dream though...

A fully Windows-compatible version of CAW is something I've wanted for years--let's hope it will happen. I'll drink to that

PS In the meantime, I'm happy I kept the old pseudo-Windows CCAW. As an aside, I still have the old C-64 version of this game, too.
