Lots of CTD in ship availability list

Post by Stelteck »

Hi.

I have War in the Pacific version 1.30, full version.
No noticeable problem with sound or others things.

I experiment a lot of CTD when i click on the back button in the Ship availability list.

It is not always the case, but i can reproduce it opening the windows, then back, then opening, then back....etc...

Use they Escape key or the Done, not the back. It clears the pending crash. Still looking for a sequence of keys and actions that can be repeated to cause this.

The program always crash if i repeat the following sequence :

1- Open ship availability list
2- Click on back
3- Return to 1.

But not always at the same date.

Make two test :

First time it crashed after the 4th sequence.

Second time it crashed after the 7th one.

Not sure it will help you.

Frag,

I have experienced that elusive CTD as well. I try to create task forces and if I hit the back button it will sometimes CTD and other times it will go back. The CTD only happens when dealing with ships for me. Remember, I had the same thing happen before that started in 1.21. I am using 1.3 now so I will refrain from using that back button for now.

That is loading the game from scratch and hitting I to open the info panel then just cycling through ships, back, ships, back etc?

Yep.

I open the game. Load my save. Do the sequence enough time and then CRASH.

This happen in all games or scenario i played. (But i cannot be sure. I have WIPC since yesterday...:-))

Can you do it straight from loading scenario 15 instead of the save with the exact same results?

Frag,

I had it happen straight from the load and not from a save. Its like the problem I had before on turn 1 playing as Allies during 1.21. In the middle of issuing orders for ships it will crash.

Exactly the same result if i load scenario 15 (no savegame) and do the previous sequence.

(Availability list, back, availability, back, etc.. It will crash in less than 10 tries .....).

I test it with Japanese and with US.

I must also note that i have NO crash (yet) anywhere else. No crash ever during resolution or phase play.

Of course i 'am quite a noob in this game and i do not do too much turn.

Stelteck.

Ps: My system :

OS : Windows XP SP2
Athlon 64, 1 Go Ram.

This is a weird one I think. In UV, every time I accessed an IJN minelayer it would CTD.[:(]

Always knew mines were bad.

Yeah, I get a CTD on the ship availability screen, but it seems a more random thing. Sometimes it does it, other times it doesn't.

Different machines & operating systems will have different stack sizes.

Please edit your posts to include OS + RAM

Frag, I have XP. I do not have the RAM number since I am at work at the moment but will post. I know there appeared to be sufficient RAM though.

Edit: 512 RAM

Win ME with 196 megs RAM. It is a totally random thing with me. If I enter alot of orders and fail to save prior to going into the Intel screen, it will crash for sure.

Never happens if I save prior to going there though.
