What if Battle of Midway happen on Dec 7th????

What would have happen if US Intel knew of the Dec 7th Attack and the USN positioned itself to attack the IJN CV TF when they attacked Pearl... interesting question... well seems the Vary Setup option let that happen.

My money would be on Japan in this situation except that KB's airgroups don't have any naval attack orders on Dec 7th do they? Wonder if this option of the vary setup will give them some naval attack orders.

Well the results... are not as good as the real Battle of Midway... Even with the US 2 CVs attacking after the main PH atk, they still get eaten up by the IJN navy fighter pilots.

So the end results is so far no major changes... didn't get a single IJN CV hit. Still lost a number of ships at Pearl and now I have two USN CVs with depleted air wings and no replacements until they build up in the game. [:@]

Now its time to race the CVs out of there. Should I send a BB TF after the IJN... Hmm I expect not...

Oh... the IJN...did get a ton of new fighter aces out the engagement. [:@]

no early midways is too Suicidal.

Guess early war stragety is to protect the CVs at all cost.

Run around while everything blows up is a correct anology of Allied early war stragety.

If you send the battleships out, the IJN will sink them.[:D] I wanted to try this in SPI's War in the Pacific - try to kill these BB's once and for all. However, my friend and I did not have time to try this. WE barely got the game set up before we had to take it down. I am going to try it here. (I am also going to try to get this friend to buy this game.)

I had a pretty good turn historically as the Allies. Intercepted the KB with Saratoga and Enterprise on Dec. 9th. Damaged Shokaku and BB Hiei (sp?), and put three 1000 pound bombs through Kaga. Of course, I lost Enterprise (20 bombs, 18 torpedoes [X(]) and the combined remnants of Enterprise and Saratoga's wings now number something like 40 aircraft. Putting Kaga out of action for a while might have been worth it.. it almost seems like an early Coral Sea.

Actually looking at the results you got I think this is, arguably, pretty historical. If, the US CV's had been around they would probably have gotten their butts kicked because the IJN had Numerical and Experience advantages. Pretty neat to see it happen.

Its why I LOVE these games.
