Best War Movie Songs

What are your favorite war movie songs? My two:

1. "Panzerwagenlied" from The Battle of the Bulge. Far and away the best part of the movie. The German commander is despondent. The battle plan is foolhardy. He lacks tanks, fuel, equipment. And his soldiers . . . "boys, too many boys," he mutters. Then the tankers sing . . . "Es braust unser Panzer Im sturwind dahin!" His problems are solved. "It can be done!" he exclaims.

2. "Colonel Bogey's March," from The Bridge Over the River Kwai. Infectious tune, perfectly exemplifies the prisoners' unquenched spirits. A perfect fit between music and mood.

And an honorable mention to the "Theme from F-Troop" (an early 1960s US television comedy set in the frontier right after the Civil War):

and nobody takes a lickin'

Both turn chicken.

When killing and fighting get them down,
They know their morale can't droop.
As long as they all relax in town

I have several movie theme favorites:

1. "Das Boot" main theme: I liked this so much I put in my version of Silent Hunter II. Perfect accompaniment to the Das Boot Sound Mod.

2. "Band of Brothers" soundtrack.

3. "Adagio for Strings" (Samuel Barber), from "Platoon"
