ToS version 1.4 freeware

Post by rosary »

For those that have had a hard time finding the Titans of Steel version 1.4 freeware online. It is also still available from sarna.net though it may not show up in some search engines.

Also on www.the-underdogs.org. At least I think that's 1.4 he's got on there.

Lobsteve: she.
I know it is kinda hard to believe, but yes, the person running underdogs is a woman.

And, yes, yes it is 1.4 that The Underdogs has.

Actually, it was from that site I first discovered TOS.

Lotsa stuff.
Remember that v1.4 is the freeware version. The predecessor to WS.
Graphics, sound, 3D. Campaigns, tutorial, solitary/hotseat. The approach (gladiatorial/military). 3 new weapons. Lots of weapons/systems/chassis/armor tweaks. Lots of rules tweaks. Jump backwards. Bravery. Automove. Self-destruct. Buildings. More ranks. Skills tweaks. Import/export of designs. More info displayed. More printouts.

And much more. [:)]

Fixed. Did not check the sarna.net version. But the one from rosarystudios.com installed o.k.

Let me know if you have any more problems.

Hang on...

Did you say that this 1.4 version is BETTER than Warring Suns? (don't know the version number of that).

And I was getting really good at the one I have too! [:(]

No, of course not. Those are the features of WS relative to v1.4, not the other way around. I expressed myself wrong, sorry.
ToS v1.4 is freeware.
WS is currently patched to v1.1, and v1.2 is being worked on with lots of new stuff.
Version numbers of WS and the original ToS have nothing to do with each other. ToS v1.4 doesn't mean better than WS v1.1. WS is ToS II, if you will.

Anyone remember me? I hung out at the forums the year before WS. :)

Im of the group that remembers Hetzer with fear for my ToS's heads. I took Hetzer's approach, only I aimed for CT, not HD. I collected quite a few exploded engines (what was left of them).

And I have no $$ to pay for WS. [&o]Give money pls![&o] I'd buy WS just to say thanks for having ToS v1.4 freeware.[:D]

Anyway, if anyone still plays v1.4, ill be happy to destr... I mean, uh... fight you. :)

Don't you know that you can now get TOS:WS for $9.99? You should be able to buy it now and join the fun.

I've still got 1.4 installed, as well as WS. Where are you in the world? Iaffects the times we can meet online ... I'm UK. My ICQ is 126 242 132, or I have msn (send me a private message for my address). Happy to fight ... but I do agree with Rosary; it's worth giving up something to buy WS.

Hope someone still have a copy of the italian guide

Post by Megrez »

A couple of years ago I made an italian translation of the ToS 1.4-guide. I saved it on a CD, but a couple of week ago a friend of mine asked me those translations, and when I tried to send them by e-mail, I discovered that some files on that CD are corrupted.
Is there someone that still have those files?

This was an old thread, that had already disappeared from the forum, and as it had some interesting info in it, I revived it. There was someone asking about the game in some other forum, and I thought this could be useful.
