Allied AI CAP Problem?

Post by smallie1 »

Playing whatever the full scenario is - May 42 through Dec. Second time I tried as Japanese. Both times had same problem. Both games historical levels.

Allied AI sends carriers, I contact and send my carriers out. Allied AI puts up ZERO CAP and sends ZERO escort in both games. And not just once in the game. First raid is two carriers, second is one. Needless to say I plastered the carriers. I thought one game is an aberation, but two games is not.

Is this a bug? Have other players seen this?

If this is how the AI acts as the Allies, then what's the use of playing the Japanese? It certainly takes the fun and challenge out of the game.

Hmmm, never seen that and I have been playing since the game came out. I assume you are using version 2.3?

And as far as challenge, PBEM is the best way to go for that, without a doubt.

yes on 2.3.

Have played the Allied side enough, thought I'd get some feel for the IJN before trying PBEM. But this ain't exactly letting me get a good feel for the flow from the other side!

Try a short PBEM like Coral Sea to get the feel for the game before embarking on a long campaign PBEM.

Of course, I never played the IJN until I took on a SC#17 PBEM game as the IJN. I do not recommend it as a way to learn to play the IJN!

The game I have had for well over a year, and have played the Allied side exclusively. It is not the game itself I'm trying to learn.

Had laid off for a while (gone fishin' - almost time again, come on March). Came back and decided to try IJN side to learn how that side feels and what strategies I would use.

Regardless of whether I know the game or not, that doesn't change the fact that CAPing and escorting with zero fighters is not a good thing for the AI.
