War in the Pacific Archive Searcher - Tool

Post by 12doze12 »

This is a simple tool that lets you search the archive of reports of your savegame for specific queries in SigInt, Operational and Combat Reports.

Search for a base, a ship, an LCU, an airgroup, an aircraft type, etc and it will show all the reports where it is mentioned, sorted by date.

How to use:

- Download the exe, place it anywhere and run it
- [1 time step] In the Settings tab set the path to your savefiles archive folder (...\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition\SAVE\archive)
+ To have an archive folder with the reports you need to have enabled the "-archive" command for your game shortcut
(Check https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4150284 or https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4415089 for this)
- Change to the Search tab and make the queries you want. You can choose the perspective of the reports, Japan or Allies.

The .exe will produce a .txt file just to keep track of the path to your archive folder so you don't have to insert it every time.

Malwarebytes and Windows Defender both marked this as malware.

Weird, here is a VirusTotal: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/085 ... /detection

Malwarebytes does indeed detect it as malware though most others don't.

Well, the source code is here if there is suspicion... https://github.com/Dozed12/WITP_History

It is not that I have any doubts about the program, I just do not want to fight Malwarebytes and Defender about it.
I quit using Intel Monkeys for the same reason.

Yeah I get what you mean. I think Malwarebytes is full Machine Learning at this point so not much I can do to understand the issue I'm afraid.

I don't know what's the case with Intel Monkeys, but won't excluding the single .exe of this program fix the issue?

But exactly what are you letting in? What else may be there now or later?

Well, maybe Malwarebytes does.

The Malwarebytes AI-based detection has many false positives in my experience.

The best thing to do is to turn it off in the settings:

Scan is clean after turning off the AI:

For due diligence, I also verified the VirusTotal scan. Windows Security also came up clean on Win10 with the latest definitions. Whether you decide to use this program or not, don't avoid it on account of security concerns.

What exactly does this utility do which witpqs's existing Intel Monkey doesn't?

Nothing new, I just find it easier to quickly find information about something that shows up in the game.

Make itself available for download.

The intel monkey download link is dead.

It seems a very nice tool to follow the story of a particular ship. Thanks a lot!
