Moving mod from War in Europe to World at War

I noticed the editor and engine are virtually identical between the two games.

Is it possible to move a mod that someone is working on from War in Europe to World at War?

Meaning, I tried to just copy the files but the editor would not open them.

I got the answer to my question in this thread. Which is yes but some work.
