Allied production and replacement question

Post by Jorge_Stanbury »

I have a question related to production and replacement of aircraft for the Allies

the date is Feb43
there is factory in LA that can produce 20 B-25Cs a month
B-25C is available only from Aug42 to Jan43
on February, B-25D1 becomes available, with a replacement rate of 10 a month

the question is simply and I think I know the answer, but I want to confirm

does the factory stops production by the availability end date?
in other words, should I expect ~30 B-25s in February (20 "Cs" + 10 "D1s") or only 10?
I think it is 30...

Yes, its 30. Well in theory as its 1 roll vs 10 and 1 roll vs 20 per turn, the actual number depence on the dice rolls. Do note that 20 production doesnt necesarilly update on day one of feb. There is some RNG in it and i think mine didnt update until the 17th feb or so in my last game. In that time as its production, you keep getting B-25Cs.

Kind regards,
Rasmus

Note that replacements are separate from production. Production fills out TOEs and pools, but if there are no aircraft in the pool, the replacements can happen (up to 10 a month, or whatever number is shown as replacements). I think this simulates taking a few of the aircraft earmarked for ETO to fill critical shortages in the PTO.

It also depends upon the upgrade path for the aircraft.

Replacements actually represent aircraft produced in off-map factories. Pools are filled by on-map "production" and off-map "replacements". Some aircraft models have both production and replacements - the Allied player gets both. For instance, the B-24 gets production from Consolidated's San Diego plant and "replacements" from Ford's off-map Willow Run plant.
