here's the deal...

we got (my parents got...) a router.

so, basically... this computer. well. now sucks. why?

several reasons.

it constnatly disconnects. it just doesnt stay connected to the internet. could possibly be data collisions. it happens all the time when my brother is using his computer (also connected to the router)

is there any way to switch around..so... i get the priority (hehe spiting him) and he gets disconnected?

secondly. stupid firewall. lame hardware firewall. i don't want one. any way to disable it?

you could try lowering your brother's MSS if his packets are choking the gateway.

And as for harware firewalls, they are wonderful things!

Simply enable port forwarding to your internal IP for the ports required for your applications to function.

If you do not know how to perform the above operations, google and the router manual are your friends
