Grand Strategy download isn't working

Commander – Europe at War Gold is the first in a series of high level turn based strategy games. The first game spans WW2, allowing players to control the axis or allied forces through the entire war in the European Theatre.

I'm trying to download the GS 4.0 zip file from the members area, but I keep getting an error message. Is the upgrade still available?

yes, just the whole server is slow atm, and is in the process of being worked on still

Okay, thanks for the heads up zakblood. Hope it is up and running soon.

As an aside, I am trying to play the 2.0 version on my Win 8 machine, but it does not want to launch (the vanilla 1.12 version launches fine). Any ideas how I can get it to work?

not off hand no i'm sorry to say, most of the time with failed launchers it's a permissions issue or antivirus has stopped a given file from running, so check logs and install and load as admin, for the correct permissions to be given on a given file
