SDL FAILER(2): Failed to use audio system

Post by nnason »

Support,
I got subject error message during turn playback even after I rebooted. I had just completed another different game turn (no playback.)

turn off the sound (in the game settings when you start the game) and try to do your turn.
You might encounter some strange things like units attacking empty hexes but then the game should work again.

At least that was how I solved this problem for me. Just made the following turn and as it seems it worked fine.
"Oderint, dum metuant."

I've got this problem too. Moreother the replay is incomprehensible. Soviet units attack soviet units, german infantry bomb at 10 hex like bombers. And it was the same problem with the previous turn.

Now the replay and the game had crashed (you can fix the crash with the setting, where you have to put music and sound to 0). If you want Hubert i can stop the game in order you could check what is happening ?

it's a pbem++ game, the only one i'm playing with Europe.

Edit : i understood :

Hi Boudi,

Are you possibly switching between computers on your end between PBEM++ turns? If so this is the likely culprit and I'm working on a workaround to resolve the issue for the next build. In the meantime, skipping the replay should resolve the issue for you for now as it is only replay related due to a corruption of the replay files from switching computers. Again, this should be resolved in the next build.

Hi there.

Today I bought the game through the steam.
After installation, the following error message is released: sound: play_music
SDL FAILED (2): Failed to use audio system

What is the solution to my problem?

Could you try and disable the sound and music in your game to see if that helps. To do this, navigate to the following folder on your computer. Replace <username> with your username on your computer:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War

Then open the file named SC3.ini. After that edit these lines to the following:

#SOUND_VOLUME= 0
#MUSIC_VOLUME= 0

Save the file, and then re-launch your game and let me know if this at least gets the game started on your end.
