There's going to be scenarios from Lapland down to Karelian Isthmus, and everything in between. I don't have an exact number yet, but if I look at my plan for Winter War there's locations like Petsamo (Pechenga), Salla, Suomussalmi, Tolvajarvi and Aglajarvi, Taipale, Vuosalmi, Lahde, Honkaniemi, Viborg Bay, ...

Campaign Series Vietnam: ALPHA graphics. This week has seen a lot of progress on the III Corps area map, with a lot of attention spent on the Michelin Plantation northeast of Tri Tam (Dua Tieng). This is a massive plantation. There are a few scenarios that will be taking place here, one that I built the ORG file on Friday, that involves the 11th ACR clearing the northeast end of the planation.

Here's a zoomed in portion of the northeast corner.

The main map above shows the 5km x 5km grid that is used and gives an idea just how large the plantation is

Campaign Series Vietnam: ALPHA graphics. The last week was spent continuing the III Corps master map and starting to put together some scenarios. Here are a few screenshot variations of the defensive position for the battle of Ap Bac, January 2, 1963.

Below is the 2D version with NATO symbols

You'll notice the location of the Landing Zones (labelled LZ on the maps), that was the historical landing zone for the ARVN 1st battalion, 11th Regiment after the battle had been underway for awhile. The ARVN 2nd Battalion landed further to the north of the screenshot. The ARVN 8th Para's were dropped 3 hexes to the northwest of the shown landing zone. Both landing received heavy fire during their landings - by helicopter for the 1st, by parachute by the para's. If you play with historical landing zones on, you'll have to attempt to land in the same location. If not, you'll be free to land where you wish.

Did you know there was a second battle of Ap Bac on May 2, 1967? Two battalions of the 2nd Infantry Brigade (Riverine), in their first major engagement of the 2nd Brigade, nearly wiped out the D514 VC Main Force battalion. While not a complete walkover, it went significantly better than the 1963 battle. You will also be able to play the 1967 battle in the game.

For the Ap Bac 1963 scenario, here is the starting position for the ARVN/2nd battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment at the Tan Heip airfield. There was only ten H-21's to lift the battalion, so had to be completed in company sized lifts.

Note the 5 gunships from the UTT Company.

Very Nice - cant wait to play with it :)
one question....
Is it now possible to have "seperate" playfields for ground and Air units ?
as example, one side ground units dont interfer with the other side air crafts - or to more in detail, one side low high fly aircraft dont interfere with other side high fly aircraft ? [except the one is attacking the other - but from the point of movement ...]
if i remember, this was one of the problems in JTCS with ground/aircrafts to handle all "the same" ....
(and would be an question too for submarines, as submerged submarines should not interfere with see units on the surface ...)

Regards

Helicopters and on-map aircraft (most airstrikes are still handled Off map) now operate in 4 different flight zones; on the ground, Nap of the earth, Low and High. Each of these have advantages and disadvantages of being in.

Helicopters can overfly everything, they will risk being shot at, of course.

Helicopters cannot land on an occupied hex.

Helicopters will also not be able to fly around forever, you will have to land to refuel/rearm.

Vietnam is expected in the spring/summer 2019, still building and desinging new content.

We're aiming for a large scenario pack for the 1.00 release, which should provide hundreds of hours of play.
