Tank fire on the move

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Tank fire on the move

Post by ivanov »

I'm wondering how the gun stabilization systems are modelled in the game? Is there a difference between various tank types how they perform firing while on the move?

There is a difference for both shooting on the move and shooting at moving targets. How good a tank is based on its Stability rating and Fire Control rating. Both are a 0 to 10 rating with 0 being no stability system or no additional fire control beyond the sighting system (no sensors or computers doing ballistics calculations). As both rating approach 10, the accuracy of the shot closes up to a static shooter and target level based on range.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
