Oh, you just posted the second link. It's probably the second, as the first came out in '92. Had a PC by then.

Red Storm Rising on a C64. Not my computer or game, but owned by a guy in my unit in 1988 or so. Desperately wanted a computer after that!

Great Naval Battles, on a 386 SX/25.
Also found RSR and Pirates! on Home of the Underdogs.
This computer would barely run Harpoon II.

Probably "Silent Service" or "Red Storm Rising"....its been a while...[:)]
But the first hard core naval wargames that really sucked me in were probably Gary Grigsby's "War in the South Pacific" and the classic "Action Stations".
We REALLY need an update of "Action Stations"! I miss that game!

What was your first Naval War game on computer you played and which computer ? Name as many as you like...
Mine was Battlecruiser on C64.
then followed by Strike Fleet , Silent Service and War in the Pacific and Guadacanal by GG again on C64. Then I switched to PC and took up on Carrier Strike and Pac War and Guadacanal ( again ).
I still fondly remember the C64 versions.
Gary Grigsby's Guadalcanal on Apple. 1982.
God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.

Twas definitely "Red Storm Rising" on C64 for me. Played "Pacific War" and a game about the Pacific that happened near Guadalcanal/New Guinea in 1942 but not sure which one was "the first". I guess I wasn't so sure when I got down to thinking about it,

That last one sounds like TF1942. You can change stations so that you are the TF Admiral, gunnery officer of a ship, torpedo officer and others that I don't recall. I soon found that if I let the AI take over the TF while I tried to be gunnery officer, the TF got slaughtered - usually by making itself a perfect torpedo target. So I stayed as Admiral and maneuvered hard whenever it looked like the IJN was doing their parabolic torpedo attack. US gunnery rules!
