Helicopters with On Call Orders

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Helicopters with On Call Orders

Post by booboo130 »

When a helicopter is given On Call orders does it move on its own or must it first be in a position to see enemy forces? I'm trying out the scenario Dawn's First Light by playing both sides and want the Soviet helicopters to follow along behind the tank companies.

Thanks!!

Best posture for non moving helicopters is Screen. On Call is better for artillery units since the FSCC (if turned on) can order fire missions. Screen places units in a defensive stance, some cover or masking for helos and gives the AI the flexibility to displace if under fire or threatened by a larger group of enemies.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
