L+5: Well, yeah.
To this point, the Allies have lost 7 DD, 1 CA, and a variety of smaller ships including some good ones, like an LSI(L) and an AK.
The Japanese have lost 1 BB, 1 CA, 5 DD, and a host of smaller ships including some good I-boats. In addition, many enemy combat ships are accumulating meaningful damage.

L+5: To this point, the movie has been accurate. But the last few clashes have included some sync issues, so from this point forward I'll only post images I know to be accurate.
I'm pleased to report that this one is accurate.

L+5: I can't count either as a confirmed kill, but these ships should be out of the war either permanently or until so far into the future that McArthur may be the highest ranking official in Japan.

L+5: I configured my strike aircraft expecting that an engagement would yield scattered targets that might or might not be covered by LRCAP. I expected to lose plenty of strike aircraft but hoped to score some hits, all without weakening my CAP and LRCAP. Being in the shadow of multiple large enemy airfields with more than a thousand fighters and who knows how many strike aircraft is daunting. I wasn't sure where KB was but had to allow for it to join the fray.

The written combat report is always accurate.
When I get a turn from Erik, I first review the written report and then watch the movie.

L+5: Mounting LBA strike-aircraft losses.
I can't wait for Death Star to launch...
...but wait! DS isn't where it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be a hex south of Wakkanai, within range of the Yamato TF. Instead, DS is a hex east of Wakkanai and out of position to hit anything except enemy shipping at Wakkanai.
Crud!

RE: Notes from a Small Island
Please, a mournful silence for the death of the Pride of the Japanese navy, or so we hope. A sad event in every PBEM. Fun fact: I had one sub luckily place 4+ torpedoes (might have been 6, not sure if possible in one attack event) in the Yamato in one PBEM. No duds. Reported sunk and then later reported incorrectly listed sunk. That thing is a beast.

L+5: Still dogfighting over Wakkanai.
It looks like the Allies will lose a lot of LBA strike aircraft today but come out ahead in the fighter clashes. I can afford some LBA attrition and believe that the fighter battles will decide the air war.

L+5: Most Allied level bombers are targeting enemy troops at Wakkanai today. They do a decent job. The sweepers did a good job of reducing enemy LRCAP.
