Larry, I've been thinking about this for a while now and I think you'll agree; we use the same scenario and the first 8 players get to play. If this works out then we will expand the number of players. Also all players will play both sides once. Then the final 2 players will play both sides and total up the Victory points to determine the winner....GP
All that works for me. And I'm willing to play you first of all. Lemme know.

Hey you guys:
I just now let Elmer play the tournament scenario, both sides and the Greek Elmer got +15 net victory points and the Turkish Elmer got -409. So we'll have to beat those scores to beat Elmer. I'm going to try a game of Elmer with assist and see how I do.

Oh come on guys, let Larry play. :)

If you have agreed on all the rules and such, if you make a new thread to call for participants I'd be happy to sticky it to the top.

Edit: or we can sticky this thread, if you prefer.
I would prefer we make a new thread to call for participants because this one is our first rough draft. And thank you Tamas dude.

Ok, when you feel you have nailed down the details open a new thread with them. Best if you PM me when its done just in case I do not notice it right away.

Hey there Cfant dude....What's a "k.o." system? Sounds high-tech.

I've created a challenge for this tournament with my name on it
if anybody wants to get the tournament started.

Äh, Larry, which system is played? I'd suggest a k.o.-system: lets say we have 16 players. That means 8 matches (randomized). Each of the 8 pairs plays a 1 vs. 1, same scenario 2 times with sides changed.

The 8 winners are put into 4 pairs in the second round (randomized). Each pair plays a 1 vs. 1 etc.

Like a playoff in the NHL oder NFL.

I think it is the easiest way to play.

I would set a deadline for registration, then trigger the matches.

It's not much work and would fit for a tournament.

Of course it's your tournament-idea and we play it as you wish. [&o] But could you explain the system? And who has joined in?

Hey Cfant dude: All that sounds good to me. Let's' do that. And the rules:
1. I set the rules. I'll listen to your advice of course, but the decider is me. Appeals to go Tamas.
2. Play the tournament scenario ten full turns, once for each side, and total the net VP's that each player earned.
3. The winners of each round will play each other, and any un-paired contestant can play Elmer.
4. The scenario for the second and subsequent rounds is a closely held secret, To Be Announced Real Soon Now.
5. Let's start a week from now ( Wednesday 7/11/2018 07:16 ).
6. It's a rule that each player gets 72 hours ( 3 days ) to submit his moves, else he's
awarded 0 VP's and the tournament goes on as him having lost the match.
7. All appeals should be addressed to Tamas K.

How's that?

Sounds good. Those who play Elmer are given a free card, more or less [:D]

One more thing. There should be a deadline for each turn, too. So, maybe 3-4 days a turn. Otherwise - if a player doesn't respond: Will he be back in a day? A week? A year? Never?
So: No turn in 72/96/128 hours - whatever you seem fit - is a disqualification. Something like that.I think there could be problems without such a rule.

Oh, and a referee. In case someone gets upset by anything. "But he has exploited and the sun was too bright and the grass too green" or something like that. [8|]

07/11/2018 EDIT:
I've decided on a scenario just to get us started:
Just play the first 10 full turns and the most VP's wins.
Play mirror games and total up the VP's.

1922 Greco-Turkish War

Any updates on the scenarios we're using will be posted at the head of this thread.

I just now had another thought. Instead of a disqualification how about we just award them 0 VP's and keep going w/o them?

I'm guessing that all the appeals should go to Tamas, my boss. He's in charge of everything Matrix I guess.

Hey Larry,

I just typed a long post and the system lost it. That sucks. Well count me in. I do think Arracourt 44 would be a great choice for the competition. 8 turns long and small numbers of units.

I'm sorry about your long post, you losing your long post. I've gotten into the habit of saving my verbage before I hit the button to post it. Just in case. It's saved my work once already so it's worth doing. And about Arracourt 44...yeah, I looked at that but rejected it because I needed something with 10 turns and besides A44 is one of those that's been played before by at least one of our contestants and so as to give both players a first-time look I needed an obscure scenario nobody has ever heard of with at least 10 turns and I think the Greeko-Turkish thing might fit nicely. I've let Elmer play Elmer and it seems to fit our needs and I'm all ears if you have a better idea.

I've created a challenge for us already.....go grab it, there's no password. And yes, let's start with the first 8 players and then expand later.

Per Tamas's instructions I've started an entirely new thread that's T. is going to make a sticky and hopefully everybody will signup officially and we can start pairing them up for this first round.

Here's a link to the new thread:

I just signed up on the sticky thread. I came here to say I happily will accept whatever opponent at any skill level but there's a bunch of forum old timers I'd love to play against but especially Fulkerson, Rhinobones, and this Mr. Cross fellow (what's his screen name? I've seen it so many times, embarrassing.) Oh, and Mr. Heavy Panzer Batallion. (what is it again? sPzrAbt or something, he's been on here for years) I'm throwing down the imaginary internet gauntlet, dang it! I fart in your general directions! Your mothers were hamsters and your fathers smelled of elderberries!!
