Cursed?

Post by tocaff »

I'm playing the Allies and it's now 12/43. It's a great time to be the good guys, right? Wrong! Twice in the last 7 months I've had 2 CVs collide and do serious damage. To make matters worse they were a long way from a yard that was large enough to fix them. This was in addition to the off merchantmen colliding and I've even had DDs and CLs bouncing off of one another.

Anybody ever had something like this happen to them? It's my 4th campaign and I've never seen anything like this. :(

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

What were the size of the TFs and the captain ratings?

Yep, plenty of collisions though been lucky with no BB's or CV's through the years.
Contact Dr. Haumiatikitiki on Tulagi for his recommendations on how to remove the curse.

The weather is fickle but it rules. DDs were sunk by cyclones without hitting anything, but weather can be the cause of collisions too.

there is a technical term for those who confuse the opinions of an author's characters for the opinions of the author.
the term is IDIOT.

Random number generator in this game seems to run in spurts.

Some turns I get coordinated air strikes across the entire map for that turn.

The next turn I get none.

I think the random generator for collision events was set at a level disadvantageous to you at game start.

Sort of like the way a set of scripts is chosen and set for the remainder of the game when playing against the AI.

There may be no way around the curse short of restarting.

My wife did that with my pickup once. Only in my case the dead-man was painted bright, fluorescent yellow [:@]

It was caused by the gravitational attraction of a very tiny black hole.

Now back to the op. Many things will result in causing collisions, etc. Ever hit a 'rock' and have the bottom of your boat ripped out. Don't remember the type of vessel, nothing like a carrier. It limped to some nearby port and 'repaired' enough to get back to a yard. Took forever.

Weather, TF size, Ops, Commanders, yadda, yadda, yadda, all add to collision 'opportunities'. Put in 'Murphy's Law', and you get the whole picture.[:D]

I'll bet if it wasn't for bad luck, you'd have none at all.[:'(]

The Drivers were the historic ones as set by the game, TFs were 13 ships and the weather was balmy. I guess they were heading into the sun and the glare of those new shinny ships caused it. I'm going to Dr Vinnie Boombatz for some tranquilizers.
