Supply explanation from WITE docs?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Supply explanation from WITE docs?

Post by Antmf_slith »

Supply from HQ:
The following conditions have to be met so supplies can flow from the railhead to the HQ and from
there to the units:
1. MP distance unit-HQ: <21MPs (not taken into account if the hexagon distance is <2)
2. Hexagon distance unit-HQ: <6hexagons
3. MP distance eligible HQ-railhead: <101MPs
4. Hexagon distance HQ-railhead: <26hexagons
Therefore, the maximum distance from the railhead which still allows unit resupply is <31hexagons
and <121MPs.
If the conditions 3&4 are not fulfilled, the subordinate unit can still be supplied from the dumps which
existed in the HQ unit. The conditions 1&2 still have to be fulfilled in this case.

Supply from railhead:
If the conditions for HQ supply are not met, the unit attempts to draw supplies from the closest
railhead if the following conditions are fulfilled:
1. MP distance unit-railhead <101MPs
2. Hexagon distance unit-railhead <21hexagons
The supply delivered is reduced to 20/MP distance for MP distance >20MPs

So the unit has to be less then 6 hexes and less then 21 MP from a HQ to get supplies, and less then 26 and less then 101 MP from a railroad to get supplies? Does the HQ's or unit have to be less then 26 and less then 101 MP from railroad?? Can anyone please explain this in Layman's terms lol...? So confusing...

1.3

Make sure the HQ is less 25 or less hexagons AND 100 or less MPs from railhead.
Make sure the units of that HQ are 5 or less hexagons and 20 or less MPs from HQ
Both of these things have to be true - if both are the unit is in supply.

In general at the start of the 1941 campaign game you usually only need to make sure units are 5 hexes or less from their HQs.

[Added more explanation once realised it was copying that source - does this help?]

Ok understood now. But this sounds so difficult to do lol... So in the road to minsk I just have to keep the units withing 5 hexes of their HQ's?

Basically yes! The other conditions are much rarer. You can switch the supply mode on for your map and if anything is out of supply it is highlighted in red. So perhaps easier just to keep that mode on and watch out for anything in red. If in red move it closer to its HQ or reassign it to a closer HQ.

To switch supply modes on select the icon pointed to by the arrow - you will see in the example lots of units highlighted in red that are out of supply.

To reassign a unit to another HQ click the HQ it has now in the unit card details (highlighted in yellow text) and follow the menu options.
