Ready for a new game

Post by thedoctorking »

I guess I have an open spot on my dance card, since I haven't heard from two of my opponents for a couple of weeks. Right now, my only game is as the Germans, so I'd like to play as the Soviets. I'm open to suggestions about rules to be used. I have some experience but I wouldn't call myself fully up to speed yet - I have played five games against live opponents, with the farthest, still underway, getting to September 1942.

I got somebody. Joneleth. Maybe you can give him some advice. He's got the Germans, no Soviet attack advantage and he talked me into no movement FoW, which I actually consider mildly pro-Soviet.

Soviets have fewer recon aircraft than the Germans do. The German "recon spam" move will reveal all the hidden Soviets anyway.

I felt odd about the no movement FoW, but my opponent insisted so I said OK.

I do think Soviets get the better end of no movement FOW early game with opening pockets also

Makes it a much easier job

Play the Germans correctly and you will "NEVER" get an opportunity to get behind the Germans to do any damage. You only see this in games with non Vet players. So in your case you may be ok unless you are playing a Vet. Since I know for a fact I can with the Germans keep a Soviet from ever getting into my backfield to do any type of damage. If you are that type of German player that let Soviets behind your lines take a few days off and practice your ZOCs and such. Just my 2 cents and I still stand by what I said. I am normally alone on the fence when I say things but people with open eyes will be able to see it soon enough :)

Exactly my point bud as vets are a very small percentage of the playerbase

No movement fow is pro Axis I think. Can spot hidden units that air recon misses. Also shows difference between hidden combat and non-combat units.

Bump. My opponent that I was going to play wanted to stick with 1.11.00 and I am on to 1.11.01. So, revising my appeal for a new game. Newest version, I want to play the USSR, generally open as to optional rules.

I guess I would rather play with full FoW.
