Best Mission Type for Spy/Patrol

Post by tjhkkr »

Tapping into the experience of the community...
When programming a mission for something like a Soviet Spy trawler... or any vessel of this type, which do people find is the most effective mission type?
Any thoughts out there?

It depends on what you want the behavior of the vessel to be. If you want the vessel to attempt to intercept enemy vessels and follow them, then you might consider an ASuW Patrol mission. If you would prefer the vessel to patrol innocently back and fourth, reporting on what it sees, you might consider a support mission.

That is a very helpful answer. Thank you. Actually, I would like a mixture of both.

If others have ideas, I would like to hear them.

An ASuW mission will have the AGI innocently wander until a vessel enters its patrol zone; it will then close to ID and if its an enemy it will follow closely. Does that suit?

You can do some pretty fancy stuff with scripting but I think the ASuW mission is the simplest and easiest way to get realistic AGI behaviour.

Yes, it sounds like a good LUI script would be in order... have it do the support thing, and when it detects, follow the other mission, and then when id'ed go back.
That is a good development on the idea!
