Soviets - April 42 - No Partisans

Post by davbaker »

Hi,
Playing round with main campaign, latest beta, and into April 42.

Have numerous VVS airbases with (LTAP) transport groups set to night missions, close to front (within 5 hexes).

Have zero partisans on map, no supply drops visible on any turn so far.
All transports show zero miles flown every turn.

Am I doing something wrong or do you not get Partisans sometimes?

Thanks

Ok, right...they should start forming from nearly the first turn...

Are there any listings of partisans in the Commanders Report or Logistics Report??? Are the VVS bases on clear terrain? Are you using IL-4s on night missions...

I can say that the latest betas have turned down the partisan creation massively....if you open the 42 Campaign the map looks like it has measles with partisans; that no longer happens...

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

Hi,
Have not seen anything mentioned in logistics, will double check CR when I get home , but pretty sure nothing.

Triple checked VVS bases for clear terrain etc. and moved as close as possible to front.

Initially started with 2 x IL-4 per VVS on night and have subsequently added extra created U2 and upgraded Li-2 (?).

It's not a big deal vs AI. but I like to explore all mechanics and I'm just not seeing anything.

Thanks

make sure you percentage required to fly is not so high that they cannot fly - that is a common mistake

And partisans tend to get created in the Center and South and not North...

% Fly Down to 40

Still no Partisan activity.

Just must be lucky I guess [:)]

Not a big issue, was just curious on the mechanics of it.

Just for future reference, how quickly do they start showing up 'normally' i.e. how many turns before I would expect to see?

Thanks

Just to be clear are you saying no partisan activity or no supply drops. The later would be unusual the former is not. A partisan strike is usually devastating to the Axis in 1941 if it happens, so should not be too common. If you mean partisan units, if there are none then you will have no supply drops. But no partisans does sound like a bug.

Yup,
December 1942.
No Partisans in CR
No Strikes
No VVS Activity that I can see

Maybe I just didnt lose the right units in the right place at the right time and didnt have VVS airbases working, so the whole partisan process didnt kick off.

I did send most or all, cant recall, airframes to Reserve Turn 1.
Maybe that has something to do with it.

Well we can certainly write off the air explanation for now. If you have no partisans then you have nobody to fly supply flights to anyway.

It is very unusual to have absolutely no partisans. But I guess the question that leads to is how well have you done? If you are still close to the 1941 borders then it is probable there are no partisans because there is no occupied territory? Places like the Baltic spawn partisans rarely as they have only recently been incorporated into the Soviet Union. And places like Vyborg and I think Kishiniev not at all as they are treated more like liberated territory. So if you have lost no heartland territory and have few units that shattered or surrendered since June 1941 then it is possible you have no partisans at all. Is that the case?

First time as Soviets so only playing on normal.
Axis got as far as Odessa,Kiev, Smolensk and outskirts of Leningrad.
So not far really, but territory definitely taken.

Quite a few units pocketed & captured etc., but not a massive haul for Axis.

So they only generate from defeated / shattered units, not from occupied cities?

They will form from occupied cities if the city is not garrisoned correctly.

But now it's easier to garrison cities. I guess there should be at least 1% chance to get partisans, even with full garrison.
