Hello!
Are you running low on any air frames? Are you having to reduce activities due to the loss of some planes?

Hello!
Are you running low on any air frames? Are you having to reduce activities due to the loss of some planes?

Rusty-

Overall, the Allies are in good shape as the Allies have only lost around 6,500 aircraft total.

On Formosa, at times, I need to stand down the aircraft due to losses and damage. Formosa needs more fighters. The scheduled "Formosa Replenishment Fleet" will contain approximately 300 fighters and 12 squadrons of search aircraft. This Fleet will hopefully arrive at Formosa give or take a few days, around the 1st of the new year.

However, as you m ight have noticed should you have looked at the Combat Report for December 9, 1943, the Allies have about 300 heavy bombers on Formosa, Pescadores, and in China with more flying-in everyday.

The short answer to your question is: The Allied aircraft resources are good.

Best Regards,

-Terry

Seriously, with Taichu falling, is Formosa in trouble?

ORIGINAL: Commander Cody

Enough of this war nonsense, we want to know what the distinguished Lt. Bloomquist-Rose is up to.

Cheers,
CC

Commander Cody-

Unfortunately, we haven't heard from that rogue Lt. Bloomquist-Rose nor his saucy driver Bella Arbel. We believe that he and Bella are still somewhere in China, but we would not bet on it either. *just laughing*

I don't believe El Lobo can shove the Allies off of Formosa for the following reasons:

Kagi

El Lobo presently has approximately 2,219 AV at Taichu and the Allies have 910 AV (only 2 to 1 odds) at Kagi. The Allies are dug-in behind a size 4 Fort (68%) and El Lobo needs to cross the river from Taichu to enter Kagai unless he moves into the mountains and attempts to enter Kagi from the mountains. If El Lobo attacks across the river with only 2 to 1 odds, his troops will be shredded.

Hex 85,66 South of Takao.

El Lobo presently has approximately 2,297 AV at the hex and the Allies have 1,029 AV in the hex (again only 2 to 1 odds. El Lobo tried attacking the hex once and got shredded.

Takao

The Allies have 623 AV at Takao. In a couple days the 3rd Marine Division will move from Takao to Kagi and the 7th U.S. Infantry Division will move from Kagi to Takao. Accordingly, both Kagi and hex 85,66 will each have a U.S. Marine Division and USMC Tank Battalion along with each having a U.S. Infantry Division and a U.S. Army Tank Battalion.

Takao is a size 5 Fort (40%).

Allied Headquarters, Base Forces, Troop Preparation, and Supply

The vast majority of Allied troops on Formosa are at or very close to being 100% prepped for either Kagi or Takao. The Allies have several Headquarter units leading them. The Allies have an abundance of Base Forces providing ample troop and air support. The Allies have numerous engineers to quickly repair any damage El Lobo might inflict on the Allied airfields, ports, and forts. Lastly, the Allies have over 500,000 supply on Formosa

Potential El Lobo Reinforcements

Considering what El Lobo has in Burma and in China, I don't believe he has much left to reinforce Formosa.

Potential Japanese Naval Bombardment of Kagi or Takao

Captain Haggard's Submarines and PT Boats have done an excellent job of disrupting any of El Lobo's attempts to naval bombard Allied-held Formosa bases. Additionally, the Allies have approximately 150 Helldivers, 36 Dauntless, and 36 Avengers (these numbers vary with Allied losses, but they quickly take replacements as well).

Formosa Replenishment Fleet

Everything heading to Formosa is either already at the Marianas Islands or will be in 8 1/2 days.

It will only take 5 1/2 days to get to Formosa from the Marianas Islands.

The "Formosa Replenishment Fleet" will carry over 1,200 AV, approximately 300 fighters (Spitfire VIII; Thunderbolts, and Corsairs), approximately 180 Dauntless, 100 Avenger, 500,000 supply, and 300,000 fuel.

The Allies already have approximately 300 heavy bombers either on Formosa or in China within easy range of Formosa. Additional heavy bombers and additional search squadrons continue to fly from the West Coast, to Pearl, to Midway, to the Marianas Islands, and to Formosa. Just about every day, either a bomber squadron or search squadron arrives at Formosa.

Conclusion

Accordingly, El Lobo has a huge job ahead of him to attempt to push the Allies off Formosa and he would have to have some excellent luck to have a remote chance of being successful.

Below is a map of the vicinity of Formosa.

Best Regards,

-Terry

Highlight for Today

Though battered and bruised, crippled by lack of supply, and besieged by substantially superior fighting Japanese forces, the Chinese still hold Chungking. El Lobo has moved 49 units out of Chungking in an effort to block the Marines advance north from Amoy. Operation Culpepper Cattle Company has successfully opened a supply route to the Chinese that were able to slip out of Chungking (approximately 6,500 AV that grows each day as those Chinese now take replacements). It is too early to predict with any confidence that Chungking will remain in Chinese hands, but the prospect looks far better than before the Marines landed at Amoy.
