New Normandy 44 Game Released for PC

Post by Alan Sharif »

The first game in this series, Normandy 44, has been released on steam today. I have been reading reviews etc and am beginning to think it might be worth purchasing. Anybody any experience with earlier versions of ths title? http://warsandbattles.com/en/

no idea on the game tbh, but as it's a HexWar Games, i'll pass, ive supported and have quite a few of there games, but lack of feedback and support means i'm no longer able to think it's a company worth supporting, no matter what games it brings out, until it supports and fixes and alter some of it's practice like abandoning a given game after 1 patch or none or 2 and it still being broken and unplayable, eg fully working, even if it's still broken and never replying to feedback or comments on it's forum, or on steam.

they seem more than able to throw out quite a few games in a given year for such a small team, but read any steam forum and you will see, it's abandon-ware as soon or almost on the same few months after release as they move onto the next cash cow, not that i guess there game are big seller either, being more of a beer and pretzel type etc.

they flatly refuse to add an editor, reply to anything regarding a bug or error you point out, no matter how many say the same thing, and still keep doing the same old, welcome to 2018, here's our latest game, same as all our older versions, just called something else, with newer bits added, same small maps, no replay value and no way to edit, alter or even try and fix yourself :(

just to be fair and open,

Code: Select all

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?publisher=HexWar%20Games

search by publisher lists all there past steam games, pick anyone at random and read the forum replies, and you may get my point

and here's one of my posts, just to prove a point and see the dated reply

I had the game on iOS and it was a bug riddled mess which turned out to be abandonware. Suppose HexWar bought it, but that's not too reassuring as I have had customer support issues with them regarding buggy games. I might have a look at the Steam/PC version in time.

I cant say much about the publisher, as I don´t have any of there games. I do see them on the "light" side, and from what Zakblood is saying, well not to good!

But what did surprise me is the designers behind some of the games in this series...

- Armaud de Peretti: Normandy 1944 (No Retreat 2 & 3, GMT/VPG)
- Sebastien de Peyret: Market Garden 1944 (Urban Operations, Nuts Publishing)

some one needs to try it, review it, and make comments on it, as i only have my view point and dont wish to put others off, as it maybe a great game, they do every now and then get one right, as the list shows, but most, i'd say 80% are negative, but read the forum views before you look at my comments, then make up your own mind, is imo the best advice

true, i was just pointing out the failings in my eyes and from those on steam who had pointed out in the past on the disappointments from them from previous titles, but if i'm wrong again, it won't be the first time, i run at 50% so toss a coin with my comments and either way for those i win, i lose the same amount[:D]

do you ever sleep?

[:D]

old game also,

Wars and Battles has been launched in November 2014 with the Battle of Normandy 1944.

The October War 1973 was released in June 2015.

and both ipad ports, as shown on the steam video, eg the distance, the size, the view, so not even a pc video out atm, so still on the fence, but price is about normal for them.

yes new dev's to hexwars, French indie studio Battle Factory

Code: Select all

plus a review from the time of release,

edited again,

looking at there website, also it seems there ambitions are bigger than what happens in reality, as most of what they had planned are more than 4 years behind release, so steam for pc, is the last thing maybe to try and either boost sales or get into the market and away from the ipad / mac low priced market and into something bigger, nice plans, but like all plans, falls apart if the funds and buyers aren't there, so will see how it goes and what follows and if i have to eat my words[8D]

We have three additional battles in the pipeline (Austerlitz 1805, Gettysburg 1863, and Market Garden 1944) that will be launched in 2015-2016.

none of which happend, mind you Market Garden 1944 got my eyes lightened up a bit, my fav battle of all time, and own all other versions on all platforms i've found as yet[:D]

please, and this is in bold, don't visit the forum either, it's full of adult porn going back a while, so seems there forum like steam isn't used or monitored,.

Thanks for your feedback Zakblood. I have had my own experience of Hexwars customer service, and some of the post's found on Steam are from me :( . They did sort out the bugs, via two patches, on the one title of theirs I own. However, no message I posted ever got a response, and these patches turned up 'out of the blue' by which time I had already regretted my purchase. Then, to add insult to injury, once I could play the game I found it had not been worth the wait. :)

well first reviews up for the game, nothing out of the unexpected for me, but for those still on the fence, read it and see and make your own mind up, i don't want to be negative, as all war games need support, just some more than others, as some tend to not listen to feedback, find it hard to be part of a community, and have no presence on the forums, which in the end, kills it for me, as if you don't talk, listen and take feedback from your buyers, over time, you loose them, and don't go out of your way to encourage any others to join in and buy either, so in the end, have doomed yourself, so nothing anyone like me will change then, i speak asking that they change there ways and stay alive and keep making, but it falls on deaf ears and stony ground, as he who knows everything is a fool, and i know next to nothing.

but here's the review all the same, not someone i know or in my friends list and have never spoken to either, but i did reply to his review.

while i normally and it's always good advice, don't listen to anyone, even my novels, watch a video, read others reviews and comments but in the end, make your own mind up, as your not a sheep, eg do as i say and follow, your on your own and old enough to do as you like and think for yourself, as anyone opinions is just that, there own,.

i own 12, most bought in bundle packs at very low and good prices, while most work to a fashion for me also, there are still some which a year or 2 after release, dont have bugs as such just issue that make them next to unplayable to me, as mentioned by many others on the forums, which imo could have been fixed and sorted out quite easily with next to no time or effort if they wished, but seems they didn't want to know, or listen and cared less, as long as someone else was buying something else, the new titles each and every few months, the money keeps coming in, so seems everything is fine for them.

and yes i also agree, my few which got patched, had no notes to say what was or wasn't sorted, came out of the blue, didn't fix all and wasn't worth the wait either[:(]

In this day and age of products being sold, lack of keeping the game current and not replying to messages will result in a short-lived shelf life. I will not buy items if a company refuses to correct errors or refuse refunds. Argue over a $ 2.00 part and you will lose my business. The least this company could do would be to respond. Too many alternatives out there to give my money to.

Just read the review. How I was Hexwar would reply, and perhaps say some of these issues will be addressed in a future patch. My experience tells me there will be nothing but silence, but a patch might appear out of the blue in a few weeks/months with no warning what so ever. In an age of communication, it is a strange way to do business.
