Garrisons ???

Post by AdmiralFatcat »

I've looked all over for information on how to increase garrison levels in the game. What is the procedure for adding to the garrison level of let's say Columbo in Ceylon which is 10 (red) / 40?

Much appreciation bestowed on anyone that can help me with this.

The enemy invariably attacks on one of two occasions: 1. When you're ready for them. 2. When you're not ready for them.

A red 10 is 30 assault value points short of the requirement. You need more troops that have an assault value. If you get it up to 38 you should be ok.

Thank you very much. Is there anywhere in the rules that describes that? I haven't been able to find anything about it.

8.5 PARTISANS (page 199)

"The player must keep a total Assault Value (AsltV) at the base equivalent to the Garrison Value (GarV) of the base. The Garrison Value of the base is a predetermined value that is based upon historic population levels. The Assault Value and the Garrison Value at a base is displayed in the center column of the Base Information Screen under the fort size at the base. The ratio between the two will appear as Garrison: AsltV / GarV. The AsltV present at the base will be listed to the left of the slash and the requisite GarV will be listed to the right of the slash. The garrison requirements for all bases can be seen at one time on the List All Bases screen with the Show Resource and Garrison Data view. If "

Found it. Many thanks to those who who helped me with this. Would have been nice though if they had put a section named Garrisons in the rules.

At least a reference to 8.5 in the section on bases.

There's a (negligible) loss of 1 VP per turn for each base that is under-garrisoned. The damage created at an under-garrisoned base is usually low, but will be cumulative. IMO the partisan attack is randomized, I've seen substantial (70+) damage to airbases more than once.

Warning you that there are at least 4 basehexes in India where garrison forces are scheduled to withdraw, fortunately their are plenty of battalion-sized LCUs available to replace those garrisons.

China is rife w/ garrison-requirements, but has plenty of low-budget Infantry Corps that can be subdivided and (slowly) moved to bases that need them.
