[Q] High Frequency Communications

Post by kk6pr »

Still climbing the learning curve, but really enjoy the game.

Was wondering if High Frequency communications (HF radio 3-30 MHz i.e. shortwave) between units is modeled in any significant way in the simulation - and if propagation conditions are a factor (solar flares can render radio communications useless for hours at a time).

I haven't found any mention or way to control that in a scenario. I suppose it could be approximated by some level of jamming.

Hi,

Platform-to-platform communications are abstracted; either a unit is on its side's comms net, or it's not, in which case all sorts of things start to happen.

So you can model the effect of any number of factors on HF comms by pulling the affected units off-line.

Thanks!

Hopefully a future update will allow for a variable percentage of reliable comms, rather than just on/off.
